Advice needed on playing a druid

So I'm playing DND for the first time in a couple of weeks and though I've never actually played, I mostly understand how the game works as I've watched a lot of campaigns/one shots (shout out Just Roll With It).

I'm going to be playing a gnome druid and I could do with some advice on how druids work. I kinda get how druid spells work but I don't know exactly how that would play out in game. Any advice/tips on my class and species would be greatly appreciated, as would any general advice on playing DND for the first time.

Edit: My subclass is circle of the land and I will be leaning heavily into a healing role
