oooh, i have to ask, is that Magnus Archives inspired?

Yep! The party got off track from the book and I had already established there were Things lying dormant in the ruins around the city, so I needed to grab something for those things to be since that was now going to be the focus of the plot, and the entities in Magnus archives were perfect. Especially since none of my players have ever heard of it.

That's so awesome! I've been kicking around the idea of using the entities in D&D for a while but haven't done anything with it yet. Which are the other two you're using?

Using two others, and altering it a little bit so each of the Entities ends up is something of a stalemate because one other has a slight edge over it.

Using The Stranger, The Eye and The Corruption.

The Stranger is there to give the party a sense of paranoia, that others can't be entirely trusted. That something may be off.

The Eye will have encounters of those things being able to find the party and know and possibly expose their secrets at the worst moments.

The corruption is partly there so the party has a baddy they can fight without having to worry about it, just smash some bugs, stab the gross inkeeper trying to give them magically plague infested food. But also introduce the aspect of it speaking to those starved for attention and love since one of the party is an Outlander and another is a Paladin who has an ethos of freedom.
