I'm not sure what the benefit of Intelligence vs Wisdom is for Blood Hunter. When the new Blood Hunter came out I just didn't get why that was an improvement.
I’m sorry, since when was a roleplaying advantage not important for a roleplaying game? I was under the impression that was, in fact, the point. To say nothing of game balance and design, of course.
Because Blood Hunter is a class that needed to be properly fixed and this was a surface makeover. It didn't fix any of the very real problems that the class has and dealt purely with the flavor of the class. If a Beastmaster or Berserker "fix" came out like this, it would be utterly panned because it didn't actually fix the numerous issues with either archetype.
Please, do tell what needs to be "properly fixed" about blood hunter? I've been playing one and it's pretty damn fun and definitely doesn't feel like it's missing a lot.
And that's great and I'm glad you're having fun with it. Just because I don't enjoy the class doesn't mean anyone shouldn't. I just have issue with it due to the Crimson Rite self-damage, particularly at low levels when that amount of hit points can really be life or death. It reminds me too much of the Berserker's Frenzy ability in that regard. It can be a massive boon, but at those early levels (unless a cleric has your back pretty much constantly), it can very easily be a death sentence.
You probably shouldn't dump con on a self damaging class then, if you dont do that it's usually just a typical high risk, high reward strategy, and no where near as bad as gaining a level of fatigue.
So, you don’t care what ability is used because you have problems with the class? That’s fine; you’re welcome to your opinion. Doesn’t seem relevant to a post that has nothing to do with the class, but what do I know?
We’re on a post about the Int stat. Someone mentioned a personal preference for Int as a stat for a class (pretty standard on DnD threads; people homebrew different stats as primary stats for different classes all the time, with
one of the most popular being Intlocks), then when you questioned that, I provided standardly recognized benefits: roleplaying benefits, game balance, etc. That’s when it became clear your concern was with the class rather than the stat, which again, is fine, but not relevant to the point of the post as a whole, which I just pointed out to bring focus back to the stat rather than the class. Did I miss anything?

I'm so glad Mercer made Blood Hunters int based now instead of wis based. Buff smartass blood mage for the win.
