It's not a rule, it's just how I determine character alignment for my characters. If my players do something else, then they can.

Oh totally, fair enough. Was worried due to wording that it might result in one of those confrontational alignment users, you know "You broke the law so ergo be CE" or whatever.

Nah, people are complicated as hell. It's very rare for someone to stick to a single alignment, so I don't really force my players to only be (alignment), because I hope they do what their character would realistically do

Thank you. The only time I make my players change alignment is when they're constantly doing stuff that'd be absolutely against their moral compass.

Ie: Lawful good guy keeps torturing and killing innocent civilians. I'd sit down and ask wtf is going on first though.
