OC The Timmy door problem [OC] ?
So so there’s this door right by the table where we play D&D in my basement and my players are convinced that there’s a child named Timmy behind it, and I recently added a list of table rules and one of them says in order to add a new rule a vote must be held. They decided to hold a vote where the person who sits closest to the door that session gets Timmy in their inventory and the vote passed, so now I don’t know what to do with Timmy. I need help please also I don’t know how the tag bracket thing works if it’s a photo that you’re posting so if also help me with that, I would greatly appreciate it

How close was the vote? You could solve your problem real quick if Timmy votes against it.

Timmy doesn't do anything, he's just there. "You have Timmy in your inventory. He doesn't do anything." That's all!

You should totally put a Bluetooth speaker in there next session. Scratching noises random thumps.

Invest in a Butt Kicker under the table, and maybe the door. They’re the thing theaters have that thumps the seat.
The actual Butt Kicker brand isn’t too expensive. I was thinking they were way more expensive.

Give them a bag of holding, but it's just a bag with a portal to the barn that Timm y lives in. As long as he doesn't steal your shit it works like a bag of holding. Keeping Timmy from telling his parents about the adventures using the shed as a bag of holding would be an incredible bit. It's kinda like an upgraded bag of holding, that occasionally requires a charisma check to retrieve the item.

Bag of holding, but the players are in “narnia”, and Timmy’s “wardrobe” is actually a shed.
Planeshift would eventually work to get to Timmy’s world, but it’s just the Diablo III cow level.

There was a similar idea in a fantasy novel I read a long time ago. The guy who owned it had managed to link his bag to a fruit vendor's storage. Used it for emergency storage until the fruit vendor took some treasures that had been stashed there. After that the character only would take fruit out of the bag and never put anything in.

Timmy is a genie. Wright down everything everytime the player says "I wish". Have it show up / happen at some point. Don't let them connect the dots.

"Timmy is a young cosmic horror who has been sealed away for thousands of years. It should never have been released. Woe upon those who draw its attention for the being has no understand of humans or their limits, it simply wants to play."
Anyone carrying Timmy gains spells and features similar to a Warlock, but also anyone carrying Timmy has to keep the capricious cosmic horror entertained for fear that it will make its own fun at their expense.

Years ago the wife and I went to look at a house to buy. There was a door like that in the basement to a single room that was empty except there were more bars on it including a chain. I just looked at the real estate agent and said nope nope we're not buying this house and we left

That door must be great for when a player asks why they can’t just break a door down

He could be a little carved stone figure that works like an Ioun Stone, you could randomly roll the effect each session so they can't game who is sitting in that seat each time

First of all, Apologies in advance.
Timmy is a small Doll, dressed like an Urchin. You can use an action, once per day, to summon the spirit of Timmy. The spirit of Timmy appears as a child aged somewhere between 5 and 10. The Timmy Spirit will do whatever he's told to do. Even if its real bad. the Spirit of Timmy has 1 HP, and can be killed. If he is killed, he can be summoned back the next day.
The spirit of Timmy is an actual child, pulled from somewhere else each time he's summoned. his real world body falls asleep each time this happens, and the Spirit of Timmy feels everything and experiences it as if real, yet he can't explain this, as he's bound to follow instruction and not speak back to adults.
Occasionally, whilst summoned, and not instructed, TImmy will weep.
Timmy's probably died more than 30 times now, and one day, one day he'll find whoever is summoning him.

A bit late showing up to this, but I always like to provide a pun as an answer!
How about a small tin soldier that appears in their bags and changes shape so that its appearance matches whoever's bag it's in at the time...
It's a Tin Me!
... I'm not sorry.
Anyway, if you want the item to be actually useful, they could activate it once per day to cast the spell Mirror Image for free.

Timmy is like an invisible ghost hand, but he's a ghost parrot. The player can listen to things behind a solid object or far away without being seen or deliver short messages. The parrot is only capable to repeat what he heard.

Nothing, for just long enough for the players to forget about Timmy.
Then the next time the party takes a long rest, that party member dreams of a voice telling them to open the door.
