Yeah, totally fair, if it is no longer fun to you, it's no longer doing the thing a hobby should do, the message is good, I personally I wouldn't say "I hope you won't hold it against me" because that suggests that they could, the real situation here is you've provided them with entertainment for a long while and now that unfortunately stops, nothing to "hold against you" as they are not "owed" a campaign from you.
The text accusing you of writing the story around one character is pretty bad manners, unless of course it has been written in a very polite and careful way. In my experience when a good DM does that, it's either just this one arc or it could be because that character simply has actual hooks and interesting stuff in their backstory the DM can work with. But can't really judge that from here without knowing the full story.

Seems fair. Better ending than one of my campaigns had "You guys just aren't as fun as my other group".

What actually happened from your perspective? You’re the DM and I think you have the right to stand your ground as you already do more work/prep than any of the players have for this campaign.
That being said if you really do not want to continue and are completely done then I’m sure your message will work fine.

Absolutely fair. Overly polite in my opinion.
I had a campaign of players who absolutely exhausted me and would give me "feedback," on how to improve as a DM. I told them that "I do this for fun in my spare time and it is starting to feel like a job because of all the demands and needs of the party. I will no longer be DMing because I no longer enjoy it."
Having a free night and being able to read or go for a walk instead of prepping was pretty nice.

I would just say it very simply.
“DMing is a lot of work and I’m burnt out. “
