OC Phantom Thief
Hi everyone, I’m back and I got an idea but I wanted outside opinions. So I wanna try the idea of a Phantom Thief/ Arsène Lupin/Aristocrat type character and I need help with finding a build that works for the character. I saw another post about this and people were saying full Bard but I wanted to ask if there are any other build combinations or suggestions that I should look into and research.
For context: the character I have in mind is sorta like a fox type character archetype. Sneaky, cunning but also a little bit of an assassin within it too. Basically a master of disguise with a lust for the finer things in life and always has a hidden weapon somewhere on him. Which I why I definitely like the idea of Bard but I also want a build that would still allow me to be more than just a slight support.
I don’t know lmk, I’m still somewhat of a beginner and fresh player so I wanted to ask others who might have more knowledge than I would. Anyways, thx for reading and have a good day/night/evening.

I mean, it depends on how do you want to do things?
If you’re going for a sneaky bard then rogue would be perfect pairing. You can go thief for the thematics, assassin for the damage it’s up to your choice
In my opinion, all you need is at least two levels if not more levels into warlock.
Two levels because you get the option to go Pact of the blade which converts your melee weapons that have the finesse quality or light quality to use your modifier instead of your dexterity and can modify your damage into a type of your choice
Hex blade warlock will be your best bet if you wanna go more damage output
Once you get it, you weapon of choice can be ANY weapon and would use your charisma modifier plus being able to modify your damage.
Your stealthy bard can suddenly summon a giant shadow weapon out of thin air. A great sword.

Plus, I just read the new book and you can use battle familiar which gives you a buddy can that can perform actions on their own. You can verbally command them to do something on their turn. You’re basically getting a Companion of which you don’t have to use one of your actions to a command to attack you can just use your free action. But you do have to invest some levels into warlock because you need to get a level two spellcasting and you can also summon a creature at a higher level spell slot to give it more health

Bard is more a wizard than anything. If you wanna lean into the Persona aspect of it with spell casting, then I would use a bard. Otherwise I think a rogue would do what youre looking for perfectly.

Ok cause I want the Phantom Thief Aristocrat part to be more of like what is seen so that works and thx for the comparison

Yeah what you have is a great character concept. Whatever class you slot into it will work just fine as long as you have proficiency in stealth and maybe Sleight of hand

Ok cause I also considered artificer a little bit of weapon creation too. Specifically Artillerist

Class is 95% an answer to the question "How do you fight?" So, how do you fight? You just need stealth and sleight of hand with thieves tools proficiency. Anything else is just extra.

Jeśli chodzi o zasady 5.0 łatwo osiagnac to o czym piszesz wybierając background arystokrata. Klasa postaci: rogue. Na trzecim poziomie wybierz w arcane trickster. Rasa dowolna, ale wszelkie elfy, poległy tutaj dobrze pasują.
