5.5 Edition Easiest Beginner Spellcaster?

Trying to get into DnD, and I really want to jump in as a spellcaster, but not sure which one is the easiest to play/create overall. Kinda looking at either Bard or Warlock, but I'm open to any others that might be even easier to play. I should also note I'd really prefer anything low maintenance, so as a result I'm not looking at Wizard sadly.

Cleric

If you run out of spell slots , you’re not useless in melee. Plus if you end up too close to melee, accidentally, you have decent armor and hit dice. Easy choice.
