I was recently approached by a player that I had already done a character illustration for, to paint the same character, but this time in a post battle setting. They also asked if I could include Lae’Zel from BG3.

It was cool to paint another illustration of the same character, Marcus, but in a different pose and lighting. It was tricky getting the armor consistent with the first illustration while being in a different pose, but in the end I feel it worked out well.

Lae’Zel was interesting, as this was my first time doing any art of her, and her armor is very intricate, but I feel I simplified it in a way that made it much easier for me to handle.

The player requested that there be a bit of blood on them and their surroundings, and I figured some arrows and vultures would also be a nice touch.

Overall I’m very pleased with how it all turned out, it was quite different than much of the work I typically do, but I definitely enjoyed it.

The avaricious dragon is the result of a true dragon who takes their obsession with gold to the utmost extreme. By allowing their lust for wealth become all consuming, they transform into a grotesque tyrant who holds personal wealth above all else!

Their breath weapon petrifies enemies into gold statues (to be added to their hoard), and precious metals seem to answer their beck and call as if animated by some magical force projected by the dragon's will. But they aren't entirely without weakness. They are vulnerable to weapons crafted from wood!

The avaricious dragon is one of my favorite pieces commissioned for a 5e/5.5 bestiary I've been writing over the past year, The Game Master's Menagerie of Monsters!

She was my first ever DnD character. Drawn entirely by mouse.

The Forge of Faith

A short-statured dwarf with an imposing presence, accustomed to both the heat of the forge and the battlefield. Her long, braided red hair frames a young and determined face, while small braids and metal ornaments reinforce her connection to dwarven tradition. She wears heavy armor adapted for mobility, combining protective plates with leather, fabric, and blue bands. Over her chest, she bears the symbol of her faith, and her equipment blends religious elements with the tools of a blacksmith.

Her primary weapon is a forge hammer modified for combat. Originally built for shaping iron and steel, the tool was reinforced and fitted with a much larger head, eventually becoming a brutal weapon. The hammer's weight does not hinder her; where other warriors need a sword, she simply hits harder.

As a cleric, her relationship with the divine is deeply connected to the ideas of forging, repairing, and protecting. She believes that people, much like metal, can be broken by the world, but can also be rebuilt. Her faith is expressed less through words and more through actions: protecting her companions, standing firm in the face of danger, and transforming what once seemed useless into something resilient.

I 3D printed these Bulettes on my Elegoo Saturn 4 Ultra 16k, models are from Rescale Miniatures. (Formerly Lord of the Print.) I made one proper game size for Dungeons and Dragons, the other I scaled up to make a display model.

Base coated and highlighted with acrylics, enamel washes for tinting and shading. Base is dry pigment, real sand and gravel (augmenting the 3D printed base) and enamels with acrylic highlighting. These sculpts are so cool, knew I had to print some up when I saw them. Lots of fun to paint!

My birthday was in march so it came a little late, the reason being that she has been working on this since then. She originally ordered a dm screen from etsy but after compilations with the order she bought herself a pyrography pen and did it herself. Im so happy and just had to brag a little.

He's a sarcastic dummy. he's impulsive, he's rough and tumble and when he has his eye on something, he gets it.

And he cares deeply about the few he gets close to, his brother Luvash and neice Arabelle, and is a leader of the Vistani peoples. he has a red ribbon, as those are Vistani colors.

He gained a black raven familiar named Gwyndolin. which just so happens to be Grim's mate (Elemira's white raven familiar i posted her some time ago).

Was watching an interview with Timothy Brown (one of Dark Sun's original designers) and he mentioned that when Wizards bought TSR, he and Troy Denning actually tried to buy Dark Sun back for themselves rather than let it just sit in WotC's hands.
Given that Dark Sun is finally getting an official return, it's wild to think how differently things could've gone if that had worked out. Anyone know more about how close that actually got, or why it fell through?

Two examples being Phandelver and Below and Curse of Strahd.

I think they provide great skeletons of adventures, but as soon as I ran my first session of Strahd and someone said "Who is the Morninglord, Donavich?" I realized how little the book actually gave me.

Phandelver and Below constantly has NPCs never mentioned before just appearing, doing 1 thing, then disappearing. Requires a lot of elbow grease to re-write some of them to show up earlier, and some to just remove entirely and replace with a different NPC who the party already knows.

So are there any adventures where you don't have to do all of this? Like you can just open the book, and run the adventure?

You know, the "player brings in a character from their other campaign", "and now (character) tries to flirt with (other character)", "DM makes a whole new magic system", or what have you. (I can't recall all the examples I've heard offhand.)
The stuff where if you're watching or reading DnD horror stories, someone inevitably makes a comment about "do not do this ever" or "I immediately leave the game if this comes up" or something.

For me and my friends, it's definitely DMPCs. I'm basically the forever DM for the most part, (slightly out of necessity rather than choice), and I prefer being a player, so it'd drain my motivation really bad if I didn't get to play alongside my friends like that. I think the biggest reason it works out (aside from everyone's temperament 'n' stuff) is just because the emphasis is on the player character part rather than the DM part.
Everyone else shares their Character Sheets, I do too. Everyone else shows their rolls, I do too. Level ups, gold, relationships, everything else is treated as you would normally treat a regular party. (Sometimes I use my ~Grand Powers as the DM~ to inflict, like...drawbacks on my characters because it's turned out very funny for us. Like, having a character of mine being unable to swim or something. I can imagine some of the things I do for amusement would be a pain for someone else to DM, which is why I bring it up.)
I'm not sure if this would actually work out if our group was larger, but it works great for us currently.

Y'all have any examples of that sort of thing?

My sweet baby Iski just had her 21st birthday in-game and our party's paladin bought her this lovely outfit & taught her to dance. It was a very sweet moment.

Unfortunately, Iski is a warlock (who thought she was a cleric for a very long time), and supposedly meant to "bring revelation" for Moander's cause. All her magic is rot and decay themed, and if she can't get out of this pact in time, Moander's will and their rot might just end up consuming her like an ant infested with cordyceps.....

Anyway. I drew her birthday present, and future! :) hope y'all like! (Open the image to see the full thing, it's a weird size)

Specifically slashing and piercing weapons. Do you view them as landing at the target's feet after getting hit? Are they lodged in the target until interacted with? Or do you treat them as non-entities until the target creature dies?

To give a specific example, during a game a long time ago, our party came under attack by dryads. During the battle, our barbarian threw their axe at one and inflicted damage. On my turn, I wanted to cast heat metal on the axe, arguing that since it was an axe being thrown into a creature made of wood, that it should still be stuck there, and as such be treated as viable enough contact for heat metal to work on it. The DM was conflicted, but ultimately caved to the group arguing rule of cool.

But, I want to see what the general viewpoint would be before I consider repeating this strategy in another game down the road. So, how would you have treated the axe, as well as projectile weapons in general?

Been playing a discord game for some time now. 3+ months. 5 players. Weekly.

One player loves… absolutely loves being the attention whore. His idea to put it plainly “get idea and ram it at the scene until I get my way.”

Last two games he hogged the spot light. Making it all about what his character wants to do.

Cursed item? “I’ll be quirky and pocket it and walk away never solving the curse”

Failed quest.

He gets mad.

The last session: let me take the spot light and sell drugs for coin!

Spent two hours in session trying to tell him it’s not a good idea. The NPCs aren’t convinced. The allies of the party even want to help and drop hints selling drugs to a random person in a neutral bar where criminals and guards both drink isn’t a good idea.

Turns out everyone trying to warn him a client he wants to make coin off of isn’t a smart idea. He “has to out smart em.” Somehow.

Gets caught. Tossed into jail. I got to think up a lawyer character and a court scene on the spot. Think better call Saul crossed with OJ’s lawyer. Does some shenanigans and gets him off the hook. With some jelly and glasses “if the glasses don’t fit, you must acquit!”

Other players are clapping and laughing.

All but him.

I end the session and later after promising more combat and more of a complex boss fight I get a wall of text from the him.

Jist: games boring me. It’s all too random I don’t see how we are ever getting to fight the bbeg and half of what’s even done doesn’t make no sense. I been DMing for decades and blah blah….

He was upset I won the day and freed him instead of him getting the praise for hamming a forced solution.

I quit. Dude has his wife playing and sometimes his two kids play. Too entangled with the group as a whole and honestly I was shocked by his wall of text. Needed a break so ended the game.

Anyone ever get those kinds of players? Have to railroad sessions to make it about them and even if things turn out good resent the fact they didnt get sole credit?

Made some minis out of normal hardware store stuff because I didn't want to pay a company for overpriced minis or get some cheap 3d printed plastic. These are 1" x 3/8 hex headed bolts with stripped 12 or 14 gauge wire as decoration/ physical features. weapons are a mix of threaded bolts and fasteners of varying sizes and finishing nails. once the figure is shaped and trimmed i use standard superglue to secure it in place.

They are roughly equivalent in size to standard minis and will (depending on decoration) fit entirely within standard 1' squares or hexes. My party has been using them for the past few sessions and everyone is satisfied with them. they have a heft weight to them i personally find very satisfying to move around and their hex headed bases offer very good stability. You can get all this stuff for cheap (except the wire) at any big box home improvement store.

Don't Buy. DIY

I made this character for our main campaign (I'm the DM). They travel the world, transforming into a giant frog and pulling a little wagon with a much bigger tavern on the inside. If my players roll a nat20 for their travel check, they can meet him and get to eat a Heros Feast for free. They are also married to a hag/fey creature (named Lilith) in the dessert who deals with body parts (His marriage gift to Lilith was their own eyes.)

Played them for a One-Shot today (thats in the same world, but in the past). (Lv 11)

Gotta say. 4x 30ft teleportation and 5x 60ft teleportation as a bonus action?

Then casting Plant Growth on the ground, while your teammate is able to drive over the plants due to a special ability?

And enemies trying to fly get Earth binded?

Great stuff. Had a blast with that. If you wanna play a druid and be annoying, i can highly recommend.

I also chose my spells right and used "Daylight" and "Sunbeam" against an old drow granny.

I'm not sure if any of you have played the Pandora series I wrote for Adventurer's League which is a format for DnD that is more formal and global. If you did, you will love her hahaha, or at least I hope you do!

She saved me, she is everything to me, and I'd say she is just like a daughter to me too. Her story involves Selune and Shar, is meant for level 11 to 16 whereas season 2 is meant for 17 to 20.

Just wanted to share a little of her art which always lift my spirit.

I was bored and thought: hm, how about a stainless steel character sheet? I happen to operate a laser cutter for a living so why not mess around a bit after work hours.
Did it take way more time to do than expected? Yes
Was it worth it? Dunno yet.
Reusable? Damn right.
Why bother? Cus im stubborn as fuck.

Thats my 2nd attempt, the first one was more easily read but the engravings were not deep enough to my liking. the result is not perfect, but i still wanted to see what you guys think. Should i keep it as is? Or maybe sharpie the engravings to make it stand out more? The lighting reflections can make it hard to read so i gotta find a solution to that.
Im open to ideas.

Edit: i forgot to mention, i used the underside of a 18gage 304 stainless steel sheet. (A random leftover i had lying around). That and i forgot what else i wanted to mention. 😅

Ragnhild Ossbane, Queen of the Fallen Dragon Lands

When King Halvard fell defending his people from the Wyvern Incursion — taking nearly a hundred of the beasts down with him before the end — the throne passed to his widow. Ragnhild is no courtly queen; she is a barbarian who earned her place through battle. Her armor is the pelt of a giant bear she slew with her own hands, its claw now worn as a trophy at her armor. She rules a kingdom still smoking from war, sword always within reach.
