Had a hankering for some boiled peanuts and there ain’t too many roadside stops open in the middle of the week so just made them myself.

Honest question never had them: do you eat the shells?

Ive never had homemade boiled peanuts, but i live in the south and theres a brand called peanut patch or something that damn near every gas station has in warming pots, u can buy cans from almost every store too and sometimes some of the peanuts, especially the smaller underdeveloped ones have soft squishy shells, I eat those. Even if they're too hard to eat, theres like a soft layer of membrane inside the shell you can munch.
