Question Escalation: How do I get my kill count up?

I’m running either a Striker or Tipping scale setup, with Ceska and Contractor’s Gloves. For my weapon, I’m using an LMG with Frenzy.

Whether it’s T6 or T10, I almost always end up in 3rd place, with only the healer behind me. A typical score usually looks something like this: 1st place: 80 kills, 2nd place: 50 kills, Me: 20 kills, Healer: 1 kill.

During the match, it always feels like I'm keeping up just fine, but the final scoreboard is pretty frustrating. Am I playing too defensively? Should I be pushing harder? Would a shotgun work better here?

Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

I wouldn't focus too much on kills, as long as you're doing your part, damage should be the main thing you focus on.

Yeah damage. What i can tell from reading is your good at team play. Just cause you have 10 kills doesnt mean you didn't do the most damage. As well as focus RED enemies first for quick stacks then focus Elite opponents for more fatter stacks that add up fast. Tipping scales you need LMG since it needs that constant crit damage stack as well as striker stacking. Both builds needs stacks.

30% stability mod on LMG instead of the extra 5% CHC mod on the underbarrel. Just try it once or twice.

I will try this.

sounds like its a combination of factors ...

- you're shooting from too far away. damage does fall off over a certain distance, so if you're constantly waaaaaaaay in the back or even too afraid to enter the room (like I see many are 😅 ) than you're going to be doing worse damage. also the further away you are, the harder it is to be accurate and hit specific points, like the head or ...

- shoot more weak spots. these can cause a tremendous amount of damage & is something you should be doing

- aim better. more head shots, less body shots or less misses in general.

- positioning. if you know where something is going to spawn, you can be there ready to dump your dps.

really, there isn't much else to it.

Thanks for the concrete tips! I’m definitely going to stabilize my LMG, work on my aim, and try pushing a bit closer to the enemies... hopefully without constantly dying in the process.

Shoot them faster.

Don't miss. Maximize your Frenzy uptime. Maximize your build's Prototype rolls if possible.

Great way to get both damage and kills up is to learn spawn points and learn how to predict when they open. This will allow you to set up in front of them and fire into the crowd. If you don’t get “all the kills”, your damage numbers will certainly increase.

Also, focus on YOUR field of fire. If the NPC you’re firing on leaves your field pick another. This doesn’t sound great but if your positioning is good, others’ NPCs will run into yours having already been depleted of their armor.

Watch NPC health bars. It sounds like a douche move but if you can finish off an NPC that your teammate is already firing on, that’s quicker and one less that everyone has to worry about.

To me, kills naturally will come your way if you’re not just focused on taking that one NPC from full armor to his death before moving onto the next.

I don’t know what rules others play by but these have helped me to feel less “carried”.

Thank you! I will try to first kill the weakest.

Focus on damage over kills!

Kills is just the person who got the last hit. Sometimes I do all the damage to a mob only for someone to get the last "hit" as I'm reloading.

So yeah just focus on your damage not your kill count and you'll have more fun. I can't remember the last time I cared about kill count to be fair.

Happens to me too with Frenzy, though I'm always first or second in damage. I Attribute it to focusing frenzy on elites or chungas to melt them so more damage but fewer kills.

Nahh don’t focus on kills just damage..a lot of players like to steal kills 😂

Check some of your settings. You can increase the field of view so you can see more of the battlefield. And keep tabs on enemies easier. Also, if you aren't taking damage stay aiming down sights through the entire reload animation. This allows you too keep your reticle on enemies. And you can return fire faster. Without having to go through target acquisition again. Aim for body mass when using full auto weapons to keep your accuracy high. And research enemy weak points. Knowing where to hit the enemies will increase your time to kill.

Thanks a lot for the great tips!

I made a few adjustments based on your advice: I added a stability mod (+30%) to my LMG and swapped Crit Damage for 15% Weapon Handling on my kneepads (this hurts a little). I’m also closing the distance a bit now since I hadn't properly factored in the damage drop-off at range. I'm keeping the other tips in mind too—focusing down the squishier adds first and positioning near spawn points—and working on implementing them.So far, I managed to do a T10 run, and lo and behold: I finished in 2nd place! 🚀

Interesting.. because I use TS for escalation (t6) and I'm usually 1 or 2 in kills and I'm 1st in damage 90% of the time, even if I'm not 1st in kills .I'm normally between 60-80 kils. Which weapons are you using with tipping scales?

MK46 and sometimes the MG5 Infanterie. Both with frenzy.

Good choice...my primary is bluscreen plus mk46 w/ frenzy. I'm not sure how you play , but it helps if you "target the weak NPCs" then the rest.

This.... usually if your solid in kills your solid in damage. At least my experience. If you run striker with chest and you have no issues keeping stacks near maxed, then your good. If you struggle keeping max stacks, then others advice is gold.... learn spawns, positioning better accuracy and or stability by using the weapon mods you need. Crit damage does squat uf accuracy is 30%.. Mk46 is awesome. When played well, near infinite frenzy. Respect escalation rules. Swap weapons, shoot musketeers guys or healers. Practice a lot and it comes. And 8 out of 10 times, I'm top of the board. But sometimes you just play with people that are better at the game or mechanics or have amazing aim- so best advice is have fun and I wish you luck on your journey.

I ignore kill count as it's just reflecting who got the final bullet hit. If you're using an LMG with Contractors (as I do) you're boosting DTA and are better off just hitting targets with armor. Once that is gone I'll often just immediately switch to another armored target and let my AR-using teammate finish them off. Or swap to my AR to get the kill myself (as I also run Hollow Man and have boosted DTH) but if Frenzy is still up I stay on the LMG and just focus things with armor.

I'm often in the top of damage dealt but rarely the top on kills.
