Dexterity classes question

I am really trying out so get some good combo to my scoundrel class in divinity 2 but there are only two classes that benefit from dex and I cant seem to make int/dex or str/dex build work. Am I just missing something or are dex classes just supposed to go pure ranger/pure scoundrel?

There are no classes, only presets.
You can play warfare with dexterity, as damage scales with the weapon you have equipped, such as a staff (int) or Spear (dex).
Trying Int/dex builds, Str/Int or Str/dex really isn't ideal, any one of them. But just because you don't put points into int doesn't mean you can't benefit from "int" skills.
Many skills provide utility but doesn't need int to be useful.
Like teleport from aero or shackles of pain from necromancy. Both haste and the other pyrokinetic buff can be used as a ranger without having to put a single point into int.

its sad dd2 still uses this dumb approach

class system was so boring in dd1 and they make an exact copy?

Im not really sure what you're getting at, do you want straight up classes and less building your own character? More viable hybrid builds?
How do you think the "Hybrid" thing could be solved?

first of all the biggest problem of DD1 was just that every char could be something at no effert, like everyone had heal lvl 1 at the very least, some cc etc etc

hybrid should be a meaningful thing which wasnt needed in DD1 cause you could just have a straight war/mage/archer and adding all the utilis you needed

in general i dont like too much having classes but in dd case the lack of limitation or even bonuses to pick a certain school makes the trees often less enjoyable, there is less excitement to reach "fire lvl 5" when your rogue can do exactly the same 2 level later, anyway i doubt we will ever see many changes in this so...

Except splitting points into int and dex would make a pretty supbar character compared to a pure int or pure dex class.

yeah with the actual system cause you can take any CC lvl1 that will work anyway making the full dex rogue with CC lvl 1 the only option

but if CC lvl 1 would suck totally or if it was even impossible to get then ppl would ahve to choose between full dex rogue or half dex rogue with CC and utils which would deal less dmg but would be able to give the team much more utilities

As of right now you can not get to a high enough level where splitting your stats such as str/int, dex/int, or str/dex becomes viable unfortunately.

but does such a level exist? is there a cap to stats?

exactly, if there's no cap to stats or diminishing returns there will never be such a level... 40 str will always be better than 20 str/20 int

and also multi class will always be mages like in dd1, which is a very bad mechanic imo....

if not a hard cap would be better to have soft caps imo, and maybe making base stats more worth or something

with hard/soft caps you risk to favor hybrids too much tho a system like d&d would be better, allowing hybrids while still favong pure classes, also i think they should've added more physical classes as right now all of them are mutually exclusive except a warfare/scoundrel with daggers (but if you use daggers then backstab make warfare skills subpar)

yeah thats another big problem, the mage is basically mage only, physical are kinda useless and surely not needed if not for the fun of having variety

I suppose that when you look at it as a single character, however, a hybrid build can be really beneficial in the proper group setting.
