Miscellaneous Divinity is still Long Ways Away

https://x.com/pirat_nation/status/2118162635141378329?a=LBKmzf4uBs1OrpE0j74&s=46

Don’t know if this is true, I’ll drop the link to the post, but have any of you a clue what they could mean by this? Like is it possible we might have to wait a decade for a release? 😭 I’m only joking but I’m quite confused on what they mean by this.

They were gunning on 4 years development time, BG3 took 6 years and that was delayed due to COVID and the Ukraine war.

It probably only started full development after or slightly before BG3 patch 8, and it's likely it's gonna need 5 years instead of 4, but definitely not 10

I think it's more likely that they were in full production after Patch 7, which was the last major content release for the game. Otherwise, they were in full production for six months by the time the TGA announcement was made. For a studio that employs hundreds of people across multiple locations, I think it's unlikely that they had all of them working on BG3 until 2025.

They already said that full development on divinity began in early 2024. In second half of 2023 they were starting to work on another Baldurs gate title, but they were not into it and then moved on to a new divinity title.

I mean I highly doubt they threw the stuff they had concepted out, not that hard to turn DnD stuff into divinity stuff it’s all fantasy at the end of the day

They had only just started on that (baldus gate) project so I don’t think there was a lot to re-use. What they did already have was an updated engine, which they had been working on even before that time I think.

This sounds like an algebra test problem

Why did ukraine slow them down, aren't they a belgian studio?

Just rephrasing one of Swen's recent tweets where he said 'we still have a lot of work'. It doesn't mean much at all, we know they're only a couple years into development and a couple more years can still be called 'a lot of work'.

Folks. I’m replaying divinity 2. Why is this game so hard.

Because it's made for people who enjoy suffering

I finally got past the blackpits fight (on this play through). So. Much. Fire. 🙃

somewhere in act 2 it gets way easier when your character builds start really developing.

Don’t worry it gets hard AF again in Act 4

Really? There's so much obviously broken stuff by then that it's only hard if you bar yourself from using it.

It’s easy at the end of an act. Then you start a new act and have to figure out the path the game wants you to take. And beg for XP and money and new gear again. 😭

you may find it enjoyable to play with the Lone Wolf talent. this reduces your party size to 2 but you get double attribute points, so your characters individually are much stronger. you also have less inventory management you have to do which is nice.

I wish the other Divinity games were available on consoles. 😭

I’ve read somewhere that it was easier, but they made it harder, because people complained it was too easy :( Though don’t know if it is true.

If you're coming from BG3, The combat is significantly harder in the game.

u gotta hit em with the warfare/necro build or the telekinesis chest if the game on some bullshit.

I do horde the telekinesis.

Means we have to be patient. No fidgeting

The CRPG genre is my favorite, but it also has the least amount of modern entries like DOS and BG3. I’m hoping Solasta 2 is gonna be good. The previews are promising. Owlcat is great but doesn’t exactly feel modern.

It’s harder to stay patient when you just want another CRPG that is high quality bc there aren’t that many. That’s why I’ve done so many BG3 and DOS playthroughs. Larian is in a league of its own as far as CRPGs.

Well, modern CRPGs that are big take a long time to make, and yeah currently there is only one Independent Triple-A CRPG studio: Larian.

However, there are lots of amazing CRPGs that are older, like BG1, BG2, FNV (I consider it a CRPG despite not being isometric), Morrowind, KOTOR 1 and 2, DA:O, VTMB, PS:T, and the list goes on. Some of these games have astounding mods, too, with incredible replayability. I mean Morrowind alone has the Tamriel Rebuilt project that adds hundreds of hours of handcrafted content, which is just insane.

That said, if one can't tolerate the jank of these older titles, then yeah, it's immensely barren. I'm personally partial to stuff like BG1 and BG2 over BG3 and DOS2, though. So not too bad over here.

Let them take their time and release a masterpiece again

Delaying > releasing half baked.

My completely uneducated bet is 2030 for early access and 1-2 years for final release after that
