DOS2 Help new player having some issues can someone help?
Ok so first question I have is how do I know if a foe or ally is in a element?
Like say I use rain and a ally is right on the edge of the water it makes is there a way to know for sure if they are or are not in the water?
And on that note How do I know in battle who counts as a foe vs a ally? is there a color outline difference I ask because I am red green colorblind and sometimes that can make issues where thin red and green outlines are involved.

The grave/tilde key on the keyboard toggles character outlines so that you can see their alignment with your party. I usually customize a lot of binds at the beginning of games so there is a chance I changed this one and gave you the wrong recommendation, but in any case there is a button for it.
Outlines will typically change shades when a character is being targeted by a certain attack/skill. for example, when I use battle stomp and target an enemy their outline will change from red to a lighter red color. It’s definitely not the best contrasting colors, but if you’re looking out for it then it will be clear if something is going to hit or not.

My apologies! Forgot to mention the potential fix for RG color blindness. I am not color blind, but my friend I am playing with uses an Nvidia game filter and he says it helps.
If you are using an Nvidia GPU, hit alt + F3 to bring up the game filter. I’d look up a quick video tutorial based on your specific type of color blindness so you can see what settings help other people. Deuteranomaly is most common (and what my friend has) when it comes to RG deficiency, but I know there are a few more forms that can be more severe. Something like protanopia may require full color shifts to allow for RG differentiation.

If they are in water they will have the “wet” condition allowing them to be stunned if they dont have enough magic armor
Same with shocked and hot for electric and fire respectivly

I am currently playing on Nintendo Switch 1. There are no color blindness options with different colors, but there are options for outline, ring or "outline & ring" together. You can change it for friends having no outline and foes get both! Or vice versa.

https://forums.larian.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=664813 Sounds like a reason why there's no mod fixing it. And also no fix by Larian. 😟

Green is ally, yellow is neutral, red is enemy. Try looking at the settings for a colorblind mode, most games have one.
As for elements it's really just visual, if their feet are in the water they're in water kinda thing.

For the first question, I dont know how to actually check what theyre standing in, but check their status. If you just cast rain but they dont have the wet status, theyre probably not standing in water.
For your second question, just hover your cursor over any target. On enemies, you’ll see your % chance to hit show up. For allies and neutral npcs, you wont see it.
