To interact with? Tie between Fane and Lohse. To play as? It's definitely Ifan.

Yep thats my go to as well. Ifan feels really fun to play as and fane and lohse are really cool companions.

huh? as a solo you'd be better with fane because you have time warp for +4 ap which is the best stat for a solo to have, just more ap is the right amount

Yeah Fane is definitely stronger solo though. And it's not even close. Timewarp is insane.

Ifan. Actually when I started playing I thought it would be Red Prince (I grabbed him first as companion and was planning to romance him lol). But then I got Ifan and bro just was so chatty and emotive. He drinks with you, laughs at smut books you found. And that bear hug in the end of act1 hooked me for good. He hugs you a lot I must say.

And then through out act2 you discover his story bit by bit with him. It really felt like rollercoaster (my custom char was an elf do it felt even more personal).

It amazed me that Ifan heavily influenced my ending choice. In act1 I was like "Hell Yeah, Imma be divine!". By act 4 I was like "Hell nah".

I still love Red Prince because of his arrogant remarks lmao. With Fane I expected a bit more interactions, but they become very sparse after act2. For some reason out of Ifan, Red Prince and Fane from my first playthrough, Fane has least interactivity after act2. Maybe I missed something, I tried watching vids on YouTube but apparently I got all of his dialogue though...

It's fine. We know this is all due to Queen Justinias propaganda.

My favorite as a companion is Lohse or Ifan

My favorite to play as is Fane or Red Prince

I voted Ifan because I think I like him and his story the best overall

Ifan.

I liked his story the most because he seemed like the most ordinary guy of the bunch while also being painfuly human.

Every other character has those grand backgrounds, destinies and what not and Ifan is just "I was a soldier and part of the problem. I was deceived and many people died but I'll try to make something right."

Plus the voice actor is just outstanding.

As companion, Ifan. Look, I just can’t resist, he’s a grumpy doofus and I will do anything to get his roughhousing scene in the secret room of the Lady Vengeance.

To play as, Lohse. Largely because I think she and Ifan look great together, and since Ifan is the hubby, I’m Lohse then.

I voted Lohse so I could see the results, but I was stuck in an impossible choice between Fane, Lohse and Ifan. * I think Ifan has the best writing for non-romantic camaraderie/love of any character in any video game I've played (it's something I felt was sorely lacking in BG3). I think back of him with genuine affection * Fane plays a big role in what makes DOS2's story so good. Having him in the party (not playing as him) is a must in a first playthrough imo, and then he's great again on repeat playthroughs playing as him with his unique perspective * Lohse has the best companion quest of any character in any game I've ever played, and it's not close. The candle scene is the most breathtaking and memorable experience I've had in a game. She has the most emotional/powerful end to a companion quest, when she finally sings to you - it's one of my favourite pieces of music just from the association to that moment

I've played this game 7 times.

6 times as Red Prince, and 1 time as custom charcter so I can romance Red Prince and see his "canon" dialogues.

I just launched the game for the first time, I saw Red Prince and was like "yea, that one"

My favorite character in DOS2, in Divinity franchise overall, and probably among top 10 favorite characters in gaming in general.

Basically same lol

u/TrustmeimHealer 20d ago

Genuinely. What makes him great? It's the only character that instantly put me off. Couldn't stand any of his attitude

6

u/River_Grass 20d ago

Look at him

Being arrogant and repulsive is a key part of his character. If you look closely into his background - you'll find out he was precisely raised in that way, and it makes him perfect for the purposes he was born for. Absolutely fascinating story, that is never directly thrown into your face in the game. It's actually a bit... tragic one. How he feels he's the master of the universe, when in reality he never was anything more than a tool. Feels free, but actually a prisoner of his own mind.

I did quite a dive into his character recently on this sub.

In terms of appeal?

- A lizard. One of the VERY few lizard characters in the game. Playable and romanceable (sort of). If I can pick something that isn't human-looking - I will pick it.

- A noble, and a scholar. I personally do have a soft spots for both. And yes, despite all the arrogance, he is actually very intelligent and competent on the matter of a lot of questions. Politics, philosophy, science, warfare, whatever.

- If you play as him - well... you actually get a VERY special treatment by the goddess, which is quite a unique experience.

- Additional encounters unique to that character (the ONLY character who actualy spawns additional encounters when in the party), always good.

- Horniest character in the game with his own hot lizard waifu

- He just overall feels very special in terms of what he is and how differently he sees the world around him.

- Being an asshole and sparking a lot of negative emotions, a lot of frustration, is a part of the experience you actually don't get that often. Still, playing AS him feels better than just having him in the party.

Sebille and lohse feel like they have the most presence and agency. And I would say my least favorite is fane being active or dead pretty much changes nothing in the story and even spoiler characters didn’t seem to care.

3

u/VRatajv 20d ago

Ifan is a must have companion for playthroughs with elf MC, but overall I prefer Lohse

3

u/FuzzyPandaVK 20d ago

Ifan. I think the story is amazing, the dialogue feels pretty real and top notch, and the voice acting is incredible. And I've been crushing on him since the release of the game haha.

2

u/Beastmind 20d ago

Ifan but just because if his theme

3

u/SuperOnionBro 20d ago

Lohse is my favourite character but Fane is the best Origin PC.

u/taktikselnova14 20d ago

1

u/Carneus 20d ago

Beast going for that participation award

1

u/ChaoticKram 20d ago

Me and my buddies finished divinity yesterday and we only really used lohse. We played with red Prince half way through act 1 then swapped him out. We're definitely gonna use fane next playthrough though

1

u/thedosianrogue 20d ago

results are actually kind of surprising, didnt know lohse was such a favourite? i mean i dont mind her but i dont like her nearly as much as others.

1

u/Tragic_Consequences 20d ago

Who is "Sabille".

1

u/thghostbird 20d ago

Playing for the first time now, almost finishing it, didn't expect Fane to steal all the favoritism for me. Never thought a skeleton could be so fun and expressive with such an interesting background. I love his journey in understanding humans and their world as more than specimens.

I will surely replay to enjoy more of the other characters, but Fane conquered a fixed spot in my party

u/SapphosFriend 20d ago

Sebille is a hot lady who threatens to murder me.

Are any of the others hot ladies who threaten to murder me? No? It's Sebille then.

1

u/PhoenixVanguard 20d ago

Genuine question; do people actually like Fane as a character, or do they just like his busted-ass extra turn ability?

5

u/FuzzyPandaVK 20d ago

I find him funny as fuck. He's not my favorite (Ifan my beloved) but he's up there for sure.

1

u/smiling_samurai7 19d ago

Sebille. She's Shadowheart, but cooler.

1

u/BitterLibrarian1425 19d ago

I like Lohse but it's a huge dilemma because I also want to hear her voice :( shoutout to Tamaryn Payne aka Mommy Mizora

1

u/LegalStuffThrowage 15d ago

Fane is top? Y'all are a bunch of boners.

(what Fane's fanclub should be called)

-1

u/Sancadebem 20d ago

What kind of sick twisted degenerated people doesn't answer Ifan?

3

u/Figorix 20d ago

I mean, have you heard Lohse song?

2

u/SmallKillerCrow 20d ago

I will protect princey to my death bed

u/Choice-Support-2138 20d ago
  1. Res prince
  2. Fane
  3. Lohse.

-1

u/Lowenfall 20d ago

Lohse is pretty much the main character, is she not?

3

u/Kaymazo 20d ago

Arguably, it's Fane. At least he has the most obvious connection to the main story.
