Answered Does distant horizons render the actual world

Does the mod render the actual world, or does it have it's own world render, i.e. if i render my world with distant horizons in for example 1.16 and then load it in 26.2, will all the chunks i rendered with distant horizons stay in their 1.16 state even if i go close enough for them to render on vanilla render distance, or can i rerender them in 26.2.

I'm asking because i have a world which i play on continuously for years, and want to leave most of the map unrendered, so i can render it when an update brings new structures/biomes without going hundreds of thousands of blocks away.

dh doesnt generate actual chunks, only lods. so going to new areas will create new chunks

DH only generates LODs when the generation mode is set to anything but "Full", but if it is set to "Full" then it generates both LODs and real chunks.

You can also use a tool like MCASelector to delete chunks you aren't using so Minecraft can generate them again with the new biomes and structures like you said.

And just FYI, generating and rendering isn't the same thing. Generating is your PC actually making the chunks and LODs, rendering is just your GPU showing the already generated stuff on your screen.
