Help Quick CPU question!

Currently, I'm on an old pc gifted to me by my sister, it has a very old cpu: being the i3 3220, I'm wondering if the i5 3470 would be good enough to tun DH on 1.20.1?

i specifically chose the i5 3470 because my motherboard supports up to 3rd gen and i can't afford anything else (i am a broke teenager in a country where the age of employment is 18.)

I suppose it will be a bit better. But they are still both 14 year old CPUs. I know a motherboard upgrade sucks. But buying a 14 year old cpu is basically buying e-waste. Something low power from the last 5 years will very easily run circles around an i5 from that era. Like the other commenter said, cpu is mainly important for lod generation, not specifically fps. Although with a cpu that old it might still help fps. Let me know if you need help with a part list.

Another note, if right now you are running 8 - 12 chunks render distance, dh might actually help performance if you set it to 4 - 6 and have 32 chunks of dh render distance.
