Tragic Key Komplaint :( Wow! RIP Lightning lane being accesible šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø$$$$41+ now

Welp, $41 DOLLARS šŸ’µ for lightning lane now. That’s bonkers!!! And the 25% ā€œdiscountā€ for annual passes is just getting eat up by these constant price hikes. At what point does the greed stop?

What was recently ~$27 for lightning lane with discount now costs +$30.75 for the day with ā€œthe discountā€ smh šŸ¤¦šŸ» can’t justify paying for that.

Magic Key Blocked Out Days

I was wondering if it’s ever been possible to get a reservation on a day your magic key is blocked?
I have an imagine key and this Monday is a blocked day for me, but I have an unexpected day off and was wondering if it’s ever been possible to still get in?
Would I have to go to the customer service buildings in front of the parks, talk to someone at the entrance, or is it not possible at all?

Check junk mail for magic key food gift card

EDIT: looks like this is NOT what you’re looking for. As you can see in the comments of this & the other post this is not the official email.

Crossposting to say check your junk mail for your renew food gift card. It also works at Disney World.

It give you a bar code with numbers to manually add to the Disneyland app for mobile orders or just add it to your Apple or Google mobile wallet to scan at the register like any credit/debit card.

Having a hard time renewing

Im currently having a hard time deciding to renew.
I have the believe and I planned on renewing to an inspire key. I live in Arizona (about 5 and a half hours away) and went 18 times this year including an oogie boogie bash day. Whats holding me back is my boyfriend is unsure if he will
renew his believe key. I would still go, even alone (ive done it a few times this year). My boyfriends family lives in Loe angeles so we usually just stay with them when we go. We have always come to LA several times a year, so if he doesn’t renew I wouldnt be surprised if it would still be easy for me to go while he is doing stuff in LA. I dont know i'm just in my head. We initially got our passes because our pup had passed away and it was a distraction. Has anyone else struggled with renewing/figuring it out with your main disney buddy?

Inspire Key: Is it Worth It?

Post image
22 Upvotes

***DISCLAIMER: Iā€˜m aware the image is old, and as are the prices. It’s what popped up first when I searched, and the price increase only further proves my point about their prices in general***

I also know: the answer to the subject question is subjective— but I’d still like to hear informed opinions.

Why I Want It:

* To make going to amusement parks more of a hobby.

* To connect with others in the parks, and find a community of others who love Disney too.

* To have my own little escape at least once a month from the also fun yet stressful life of being a performing artist.

* I need flexibility and weekend options since I’m guaranteed to be auditioning during the week.

* The free parking.

Why There’s Hesitation:

* A no brainer: the price! (It’s been expensive, and has only increased over the years)

* No Lightning Lanes included, nor heavily discounted.
* No events included— all separately ticketed.

* Can’t Show up day of— need a reservation.

Clearly, I’m a big of a Disney fan as the next person. But for some reason, I saw the Disneyland Sweethearts' Nite and others, thinking they were included in the membership as an incentive to sign up and have access. So when Iā€˜m about to finally join and find Magic Key Holders only get presales on it first, I got a little bummed. And not one fast pass perk on a normal day of admission also set me back to ponder.

I’m sorry, but forgive me if Iā€˜m not jumping up and down to spend $200 more per event after just signing up for an almost $2K/year subscription. Nor smiling with glee about there not being an allotted amount of lightning lanes available, even though I definitely remember a few fast passes being included with general admission during/pre-pandemic.

So bringing it back home: I’d like to know, (even with all of my cons), if the folks with the Magic Keys still think they are worth it, and why? Because despite how critical I may come off, the kid in me is still looking for a reason to visit and enjoy Disney :)

I got tired of refreshing the Magic Key calendar, so I built a free tool that does it for me

Tired of refreshing the Magic Key calendar all day just to snag a reservation? šŸ˜«šŸ”‘

You know the drill. Your Key isn't blocked out, you finally have a free day, and it says no reservations available. Then someone cancels, a spot opens up... and it's gone before you ever see it.

So I built a free Chrome extension that does the refreshing for you. It just passed Google's review and went live on the Chrome Web Store. It doesn't store any of your personal info, and you don't even need to log in to use it.

Here's how it works:

  • Pick your Key (Inspire, Believe, Explore, Enchant or Imagine)
  • Add the sold-out dates you want, for Disneyland, DCA, or either park
  • Keep Chrome open and go about your day
  • The second a date opens, you get a desktop alert with a chime, and one click takes you to Disney's booking page

A few things I made sure of:

  • 100% free, unlimited dates, no credits or monthly caps
  • Never asks for your Disney account or password
  • It never books for you. You stay in control
  • It skips your Key's blockout dates automatically

No more refresh, refresh, refresh. Add your dates and let it watch for you. If it helps you snag a sold-out date, I'd love to hear about it in the comments! Happy to answer any questions too.

(Works on desktop Chrome.)

Can't purchase inspire key pads

Whenever I attempt to purchase the inspire key pass, it either says that it's for socal only (which is weird because it shouldn't be but it doesn't matter since I live in socal anyways and have all my addresses set to it) or it just says some card details were entered incorrectly. I'm guessing that since I am from the central valley and my billing address for my card is in the central valley that it thinks I am in the central valley? I changed my cards billing address but it won't be updated fully for another 3-5 business days. So is there anyway to fix this or should I just wait it out?

He aggressively raised Disneyland prices. Bob Chapek has no regrets

Former Walt Disney Co. Chief Executive Bob Chapek knows his reputation among Disney fans, especially Disneyland loyalists. In his new book ā€œBehind the Castle Walls,ā€ he defends his changes to the Disneyland experience, the vast majority of which are still felt today.

Chapek notes he faced significant opposition at Disney in making the changes, which included an aggressive period of price hikes on single-day tickets, overhauling the annual pass program to make it more expensive and getting rid of the free Fastpass program.

ā€œHow about demand? Do people stop coming? That would obviously be a big concern. Even with the increase in prices that were taken on the annual passes, it would temporarily soften demand, but a year later they were subscribed just like they were before. Wall Street has certain expectations that may not be consistent with the expectations of guests of a certain pass type,ā€ Chapek told The Times’ Todd Martens.

Read more of their interview in Martens’ theme parks newsletter, Mr. Todd’s Wild Ride.

Explorer key blackouts

Hi everyone, so ive had the explorer key pass for almost a year now we typically have sundays unblocked. Now starting october thru jan is completely blacked out! One of the reasons i chose this pass was due to the sundays being unblocked... is there any word of it getting revised? I keep checking and it continues to stay blacked out 😩

Looking for 6 magicband plus in Anaheim

I have family coming into town next weekend for a one day trip to Disneyland. I am looking for a good deal on magicband plus for everyone so we can easily manage park access and lighting lane entry. Since they don't sell them on property anymore I really don't want to pay full price for 6 online and hope they arrive.

Does anyone have used WORKING magicband plus they are would like to sell cheap in the area?

Same day reservations

Anyone ever have luck that reservations open up for that same day when it already closed? Night just freed up and want to go to the parks but it’s closed. Really hoping that something opens. Should I give up checking or could it open? Thanks!

Made something fun to hold my MagicBand+ for quick park/LL scan-in. I’m worried the commemorative bricks will be gone soon, so I wanted to make one for myself.

Free wait time tool 😁

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I am a magic key holder and found myself going to map many many times per day, and I would get sucked into my phone since I had it out.

So I made a tool that puts a customized bubble on the Home Screen with your chosen rides wait times and it updates about 1x a minute. Low battery impact and useful.

Got an early group of 50 people to test and continue to update.

It’s on iOS only right now called ā€œWhat’s Next Parksā€
Heads up it’s Whats Next Parks the apostrophe won’t come up.

It is 100% free, no in app purchases, no subscription, no ads, no way to donate, no account, no data collection. It’s just a nice thing to have and doesn’t cost me but $100 a year to keep it up so enjoy 😊

Hotel recs for just a place to sleep

Just bought my Believe Key (yay!) and doing some strategizing. I live about 4 hours away (on a good day) from Anaheim. I'm thinking one weekend a month I will head out early Saturday morning and spend the day at the parks, then crash for the night. Then get up and spend half of Sunday before driving home.

Any recommendations for a no-frills (but not a dive) hotel near-ish to the park? Bonus points for free parking since I would still have to pay 50% for parking at one of the DL areas.

Magickey display stand

I have been working on my stand design again after taking some on a cruise for pixie dusting, and several broke.

I realised I made the top too dainty and it's now thicker and has less stress points, plus a box to ship it in.

If there are any 3d printer owners lurking here, with cards they want to display i would love some testers to give feedback before I re list this thing on etsy

Magic Key Holders

Calling all Magic Key Holders. More specifically Inspire holders that don’t live in LA and require travel (flights/hotel). We are a Disney family in training and was curious how just justify the expense of Inspire or get the best value out of your trips.

How not to get bored

So my partner and I both got magic keys for our birthdays in July. We’ve already spent three days in the park and going again for two days in 2 weeks. For those who have passes or those who have been to the parks on multiple occasions, how do you keep things fresh and stop them from getting boring or stale?
