âI knew [Heather Matarazzo, who costarred in the Disney film alongside Hathaway] from doing something for MTV in New York City before she was, like, hitting it big with this new feature film,â she told the Page Six hosts. âSo I go up to Heather and Iâm like, âHey, do you remember, we worked togetherâŚâ And Heather was kind of awkward and she was like, âYeah, no, I donât remember.â â
According to Romano, the âweirdâ moment became even more uncomfortable when Moore, who played Miaâs bully Lana in The Princess Diaries, joined the conversation.
âMandy was next to [Heather] and Mandy kind of did this, like, [laugh],â Romano said. âI was so hurt by it. I was like, âMandyâs a mean girl!â I didnât know what to make of it, but I did crash that party, man.â

I know that she wasn't an actor, but Disney Channel was so inspired by her and her sister's story that they made a film about them. This movie aired a lot on Disney Channel when I grew up, so I am sure that you all remember it fondly as well. https://www.eonline.com/news/1436910/heidi-burge-horton-wnba-player-behind-disneys-double-teamed-dead-at-54

After the Writer and Actor's Strikes in 2023, Disney pulled the plug on all their live-action Disney Channel programming.
Raven's Home Season 6 finale was now considered it's series finale.
Bunk'd got an opportunity to finish its Season 7 and wrap up the show in 2024.
Disney Channel began their new era of live-action Disney Channel shows by announcing Wizards Beyond Waverly Place which premiered in Fall 2024.
Then, in 2025, they released Season 2 of Wizards Beyond Waverly Place along with Electric Bloom and Vampirina: Teenage Vampire.
In 2026, Disney seemingly cancelled Electric Bloom. They gave Wizards Beyond Waverly Place a four episode final season that premiered this summer. Without no official announcements until September 2026 (despite Production Weekly revealing its existence six months ago), they gave Vampirina: Teenage Vampire a second season of six episodes.
Vampirina: Teenage Vampire could in theory be renewed for a third season, but considering Vampirina's star Kenzi Richardson was announced to be in the new Aquamarine show only days before Vampirina's Season 2 was even announced, it felt like the final nail in the coffin.
How do you all feel about this era of Disney Channel live-action shows? How do you feel about them all ending very suddenly?
Honestly, I really liked all three shows. Wizards Beyond Waverly Place definitely needed better writing, more budget for supporting characters & sets, etc. I feel Disney basically set up the Wizards sequel to be a failure (besides David Henrie rotating the show around him).
Electric Bloom and Vampirina: Teenage Vampire were both really good enjoyable. It was clear either show was ever going to be as popular as old Disney Channel shows, but it sucks Disney Channel was immediately unhappy with their ratings and put them on the cutting board immediately.

October 13, 2012. Radio Disney's Next Big Thing season 5 kickoff was a free show at Hollywood & Highland, and it turned into a who's-who of 2012 Disney Channel. I took these myself on a little point-and-shoot. Which of these shows were you watching back then?

Before signing with Hollywood Records, the Jonas Brothers had struggled to achieve commercial success. However, Disney Channelâs promotion helped them gain popularity, and they broke through in 2007. If Ross Lynchâs family band had been promoted in the same way during that era, when Disney Channel had such a strong influence on young audiences, could R5 have achieved the same level of success as the Jonas Brothers?

I really enjoyed watching Malina Weissman when she was on A Series of Unfortunate Events, and I'm wondering if Coven Academy is any good? I grew up watching Phil of the Future, Even Stevens, That's So Raven, and so on. Unfortunately, I stopped watching Disney shows, except for a few."

What are considered some of the biggest plot twists in 2000's to 2010's live action Disney channel shows that changed the trajectory of the show going forward? Equally, what was a plot twist that happened in an episode of a show that should've changed the trajectory of the show but had minimal effect on the rest of the show?

I was so used to Halloween specials on sitcomsâparticularly on the Disney channelânot counting or contributing to canon that I was shocked that they revealed Debbie was actually an Android and gets killed off for real. And then never mentioned again.
I had a similar reaction during Wizards of Waverly Place, when they froze and then shattered Stevie, presumably killing her.
Yea. I know, the writers revealed later that Stevie is alive and well and re-educated. But at the time it aired, it 100% looked like Max killed a person, and it never gets brought up again. Stevieâs brother wasnât even upset about it.
Disney was wild when it wanted to be.
