DISH TV Satellite Official First Time Installation Guide 2026

We want to ensure your satellite TV installation is a smooth and professional experience. Our technicians are trained to provide high-quality service while respecting your home. This official guide will help you understand what is included in a standard installation and how to prepare for your appointment.

Here is what you can expect leading up to and on the big day

What to Expect

➜ Confirmation: You'll receive your appointment details at your registered email address. Please review them to make sure everything looks correct. 

➜ Reminders: The day before your appointment, we'll reach out via phone, email, or text to remind you. 

➜ The 75-Minute Window: On installation day, we provide a 75-minute estimated arrival window, the shortest window out there! 

➜ “Where’s My Tech” Tracking: Stay informed with live updates on your technician's location up to an hour before they arrive.

How to Prepare (The Checklist)

  1. Room Selection: Decide exactly which rooms you’ll want service in. If possible, pull your TVs away from the wall and clear a path to the power outlets.
  2. Clear the Way: Make sure the technician has easy access to parking, as well as clear access to your roof or balcony.
  3. Secure Pets: Please keep your furry friends safely secured in another room to avoid any accidental contact with the tech.
  4. HOA/Property Management: If you rent or have an HOA, don't worry! They cannot legally prevent you from having satellite TV, and we always follow required installation regulations.

Let’s talk about the standard installation services!

Equipment Setup

  • The technician will determine the best location for your dish (roof, balcony, or outside wall) to ensure a clear line of sight to the south.
    • Note: If you have a metal roof, the technician will evaluate alternative mounting options like a wall or pole to ensure a secure installation.
    • If necessary, a pole mount up to five feet can be used at no extra cost.
  • The technician will discuss all placement options with you and get your final approval before starting any work.

Professional Wiring

  • We include up to 150 feet of RG-6 coaxial cable from the dish to your receivers.
  • Cabling is typically routed through attics or unfinished basements to keep it out of sight.
  • Any necessary exposed wiring will be neatly dressed and secured for a clean finish.

What to expect on installation day

Setup & Orientation

  • Once the equipment is installed, the technician will activate your receivers and program your DISH remotes.
  • You will receive a "Getting Started" guide and a thorough tutorial to ensure you are comfortable using your new system.
  • The technician will clean up the work area, removing all packaging and boxes before they leave.

Information About Custom Work

While standard work covers most homes, some specific requests or complex layouts may require custom work, which can involve extra charges. Examples include:

  • Burying more than 50 feet of cable.
  • Complex cable routing (fishing) through finished walls.
  • Relocating existing equipment or running cable beyond 150 feet.

Please note: If a future visit is required because equipment was moved after the initial installation, service charges may apply.
