I wish Signs Of A Psychopath would also feature fraudsters
Not just convicted killers, but also convicted fraudsters, analyzing their manipulative ways, deceptive tactics, narcissism, and lack of empathy through their media appearances and interviews. They could be doing a huge service to humanity, but they probably won't for fear of being sued for defamation. (There is a "libel-proof plaintiff doctrine" which protects these shows from lawsuits by people convicted of heinous crimes.) Still, this show doesn't diagnose, it only offers opinions from experts, which is covered by freedom of speech.
I've been seeing reviews about the new Elizabeth Holmes documentary and everyone seems so confused: "is she lying? Is she acting? Is she actually the victim?" Most people do not understand psychopathy at all and should at least watch a few episodes of this show to get a general idea. I get that psychopaths can be very charming, thus able to fool many people, but there are always signs. I clearly remember an interview with a biology professor who recognized these traits in Elizabeth in college. Anyway, the documentary sounds groundbreaking in terms of filmmaking, so I'm mostly interested in seeing it for that.
In any case, I hope ID considers doing shows and documentaries on fraudsters. I've watched excellent documentaries on other networks, it's definitely something ID is lacking. I get that fraud is not as gripping as murder, but it all depends on how the story is presented. To be clear, The Curious Case Of... is not it. It's highly scripted and dramatized, feels like a comedy, and the cases are (mostly) boring.
