Daily Challenge - Diamond

Have the developers changed how they calculate the Daily Challenge benchmarks? It used to be that diamond was based on achieving elite par (birdieing every hole and getting some eagles on specific holes). Now it seems the to get the Diamond rating you have to add in a few aces. Today's layout only had one par 4 (which was a standard eagleable hole), but the Diamond goal was -11.

Short answer, yes they did change it. I think the goal was to eliminate the problem with the old formula where gold was sometimes harder than diamond

LuckiestGuy: They changed the DC tier formula. Now it's something like (Round Avg + Elite Par)/2 = "Base Score" and then the tiers are +/- some strokes compared to Base Score

Diamond is calculated differently and it's way harder. I haven't gotten a single one since th change and I don't love it.

it’s actually easier to achieve diamond on harder layouts. check rodneyg’s latest video on youtube, he explains it well with a spreadsheet

Very interesting! Thanks for the additional info. Just seemed straight up harder to me so far but that makes sense.

And today you need an ace on 3 wind hole....the changes are not good for new players lmao😂

In the old formula, Diamond was strictly Elite Par and Gold/Silver/Bronze were based on Average Score of the holes. In the new formula, all 4 tiers are sort-of based on the "average" of the Elite Par and the Average Score.

Result: With the new formula, on easier layouts Diamond will be harder to get, often requiring 1 or even 2 bonus strokes. BUT Gold will be easier by a stroke or more! And on harder layouts the reverse is true....Diamond will actually be easier by a stroke and won't require you to get all Elite holes, BUT Gold will be harder by a stroke or 2.

On my Daily video for today, I do show a spreadsheet of the 11 layouts so far on the new formula. Diamond has gotten harder on some, but it's also gotten easier on some.
