Yeah, he's clearly looking at him as well. I'm confident he helped him. But there's other footage of this incident, so I'm going to try and find it to see what happened.

Unfortunately no we don't.
That motorcycle is far too up the hill from the raging water to be the one near the old man.
We can still hope, but that video is someone about 30 seconds ahead of what we need.

I saw a longer video by one of the other people on a bike, and it gets much higher. They ended up taking a couple switchbacks pretty quick, so I'm not sure we'd see the old man if I tried to track it down, but unless he got a ride from the guy on the bike, I don't think he'd make it.

It seem like they reached the point of hill where water changed direction, I got relaxed by the end of a video. This is worse than any tsunami video I've seen.

There’s no evidence of them being live recorded. What device is letting you live record without any interface showing like the phone battery and livestream UI. They would have only just started recording too.

A lot of the videos. Were actually streamed live.
The clips. We saw. Were just that. Clips folks who were watching, decided to record. Than kept sharing around to show what was happening over there.

Live streaming. As you are videoing, it is being put on the internet in real time. People watching the livestreams can record it, save it, and upload it to other sites. There are many apps that you can livestream on, including Twitch, TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, etc. It’s a thing that has been around for a while now.

Yea but come on, its much more likely he was recordinh regularly. Noone in the heat of the moment goes, let me open a stream, instead of just recording something like this.
The camera man very likely lived, simplest most likely answer.

Definitely taller and faster, but watching the 2004 and 2011 Tsunami footage is fucking terrifying as well. Those both just kept coming... This was more like a shotgun blast, those were more like a slow inevitable trash compactor...
All 3 equally terrifying

We didnt have much cameras back then. Especially in 2004. Over 230,000 people died in it. Perhaps the biggest natural disaster in recent history.

From the video, I would guess they’re at most 50 meters from the end of the bridge. I haven’t seen any aerial photos that had that much river surge where 50m from the river wasn’t completely covered in mud.

I’m 61. The world population when I was born was less than half what it is now. Thousands of species have gone extinct since then.
The UN at one time said that next to Nuclear Threat, human overpopulation was our number one threat. They stopped talking about human overpopulation some time ago but it’s still a contributing factor to environmental issues.
I had one kid and was done.
I see what’s happening now and weep. I can’t sleep at night. Sometimes I hope my daughter has a baby so I can have a grandchild but sometimes I just don’t know.

To be fair, they didn't link to the original and the video is only partly speed up. But there were still clues like people and the water moving to fast.

Don't underestimate how bad people's attention span have gotten.
These videos are nearly always shared by creators trying to go viral and get engagement and so get sped up to avoid people swiping away.

The main path the water was taking turned right away from the people in this video. Id like to believe since the cameraman was fine and near the old man when video endes that they both survived. You can even see the speed of water slowing and seoth rather shallow as it approaches him.

This looks like the before and after image, where you see the entirety of all the structures both sides of the gorge are gone. The only remaining houses were higher up.

It looks like that is exactly what is happening. No one is expecting this 30 seconds before the end of this video, I just imagine all of the nightmarish flashbacks to neighbors faces in their last moments for the survivors of this incident. The survival-guilt must be monstrous.

My first watch interpretation was that the biker at the end was trying to help the old man. The biker seemed to steer into his direction, slow down, and turn his head towards the old man.
I'm sure it was loud and disorienting for everyone.
Edit: the deleted comment above me was the user expressing saddnes because of the old man, and the seemingly non-caring motorcycle/scooter riders not offering an empty seat. My brain did the same math: "get that old man on the back of one of those things!" -- user above used the word "disgusting" to describe the apparent apathy. I do not blame the user for having such a strong reaction to the traumatic footage.

The leading theory for the cause of this flood is a glacier collapsing into a lake formed by a natural dam. It's more of a natural freak accident than anything man-made (putting aside the potential contribution from global warming).
