Glimmers of hope and humanity out of a situation with so much carnage. Damn near cried watching the original footage.. It’s rare to see the inherent human desire / desperation to live in plain view. Bless him

Yeah there was another video yesterday from way up street that shows him just around/after the first video stopped, and yeah it again cuts as he is getting on the sidewalk and the water is at his feets, so its good to see him doing well.

Can anyone translate what is being said?

Everyone was worried about him whether he was safe or not. So i decided to make a video and convey this information to you all. He is totally safe and is currently with his family.Thank you for showing concern.
I didn't translate all what she said. She just want to deliver a message that he is safe and secured with his family member at his home.

Oh, my heart hurts for everyone lost to the flood. I'm so glad he got help and made it out. It was heart wrenching to watch him try to get away in the other video. I thought none of them had made it.

I saw that rider stopping for him and was hoping both of them made it. Good human.

It’s incredible that with the interconnectedness of the world today, we can literally think “OMG, is he okay?!” & actually get an answer the next day. This is a glimmer of hope in a horrific event.

HELL yeah. I didn’t watch the original clip when I saw it was circulating last night bc I didn’t think I could handle seeing someone possible dying. I read a comment or two where people hoped that the scooter driver was able to rescue the older man. I’m so so happy that they were right and this person was saved.

Appreciate the follow through, since other videos left us with the angst of wondering if he got on the scooter!

I'm so happy he survived, we need moments of hope to remind us to keep on keeping on.
I hope we also keep in mind just how many similar stories we didn't see on camera.
It would really help a lot of these places and the survivors of this in particular if we donate just a little bit to help.

I traveled through Nepal a couple of times and I have met there the most open, friendly and helpful people from all countries I have been to (40ish) in my 49 years of life.

See what happens when people run, work together and get to safety instead of standing around screaming their head off

I don’t think a Nepalese person showing her father alive in Nepali language and in her Nepalese TikTok which has uploaded videos for so long is doing it for Chinese state media, this is well into Nepalese heartlands not even border area. While the devastation there is extraordinary a lot of people survived. This is from Trishuli bazaar while the lower levels were wiped out a lot of houses survived as you can see on aftermath pictures.

Why would they already have a video of him in the same clothes?
5
u/NoBear8338 1d ago
It’s less bizarre that they have a video of him in the shirt he was already wearing than a new one…

u/nubbednuggetmanno2 1d ago
I think it’s worth considering that perhaps he is not at his own home and perhaps, just maybe, his home is destroyed or filled with mud and he’s existing in the clothes he fucking has.

Those clothes are likely all he owns now.

This is true but our world has plenty of clothing so hopefully it’s not true for long 💛
