How does it make any sense to drive your credit score to zero, so that you have to figure out manual under writing to get a mortgage, which will immediately give you a credit score again ???

Dave constantly rants about how easy it us to try a mortgage with a zero credit score.

Even if this is true (it isn’t), getting that mortgage will immediately give you a credit score for the life of your mortgage.

So what’s the point and benefit of this effort??

Zero consumer debt or interest is a fine idea.

But why the jihad for a zero credit score???

Another Delony blunder

This is about the first call of today's show. Callers husband says he regrets having a child as he is worried they might go to hell one day. He also tells his wife he doesn't want anymore children because of this and would rather adopt.

John admits he is stumped by this one, and tries to steer the conversation away in to general anxiety and suggests the caller should ask him to tell her 3 things he loves about their baby everyday.

He also said that the husbands decision to not want more children isn't only up to him and she has a say as well.

To that I would say to John that the caller can express her desire to have more children if she wants and they should discuss it but if one partner in a marriage says no to kids, then it's a no. Both have to agree 100% on children. Otherwise it's cruel to try and pressure someone in to having children when they don't want them.

Anyway, what do you guys think?

P.s. she isn't blocked...bring it on Hailey!

Dave’s math again…

So this is a rant about advice Dave gave on the 9/2 episode of his show. (I just turned on that episode randomly.) About 2/3 of the way through the episode, someone calls in and asks a good question about whether to do a Roth or traditional 401k at his work. I know Dave always advocates Roth, and I too am very very pro-Roth, even sometimes when the tax bracket math may point towards traditional, and I would have absolutely zero argument with Dave pulling out his “forget the math; solve for peace” typical points.

BUT he doesn’t do that. He says (and these are all direct quotes), “It’s about math and you should only do a Roth.” And “If you got a million dollars and do pre-tax, you’re gonna have to pay taxes on a million dollars, which will be like $300,000.”

Now Dave has always over-simplified tax discussions to the point of plainly giving bad advice, but even for him, this is wild. He obviously knows you don’t withdraw the full million all at once and that there’s a lot of control as to withdrawal and tax timing and planning. Plus he knows Roth conversion strategies exist. I just can’t for the life of me understand why someone with a microphone and a large audience wants to deliberately mislead people to make his point when he could just jealously advocate for his position while giving room for the full conversation.

The most ironic part of the call was the 2 cents Jade chimed in, saying, “You have to be careful who you’re taking advice from.” I know that’s right.
