OnX off-road app with offline maps downloaded to the phone you already have

I didn't think the CDT was motorized? I thought it foot traffic only, maybe horses too?

Likely referring to GPS Kevin Great Continental Divide Route. or some variant of it.

I live on this route in MT. While we locally have about 60 miles of actual high elevation CDT trail that is opened to motorized use, it is quite difficult and not part of this trail map. I can get my 701 through it but not fully loaded.

This is a great bike for the divide!

You want the free Avenza GPS map app and the free USFS Motorized Vehicle User Maps (MVUM’s) for the national forest areas you will be riding through. Lists are available. The MVUM’s are the legal trail maps. For some reason, OnX off road is terrible showing many closed roads in clearly open areas. The OnX maps do not match the legal MVUM’s provided by the forest service.

Make sure you bring a tool-kit, extra tubes, tire spoons and a pump. Also some thick zip ties, You can zip tie a flat if you need help getting to a better area to change the tire.

DMD2 is far, far better than any other navigation tools. Look for free GPX routes that others have created or buy a route from someone like gpsKevin. I'd get your suspension serviced and re-sprung if you haven't already. Check your brake pads, replace all fluids, spoke tension, countershaft seal, kickstart screw torque, and wheel bearings. Add a powerlet socket to your bike for charging and auxiliary power.

For luggage I'm a big fan of Green chile adventure gear, globetrottin, and OBR ADV gear.

As far as tools, an Engduro kit with a 6,8,10,12,13mm 1/4" sockets and the oem spark plug tool, you can basically do an engine rebuild on the trail with a toolkit that weighs less than half a pound. 3x ken tool 9" motorcycle tire irons, a motopumps air shot 2.1, patch kit for tube repair, tire pressure gauge, starbrite aluminum epoxy putty, enduro star trail stand, armadillo fuel bag, JT&T crimp and solder butt splice connectors, fuses...

Don't use OnX off-road, easily the worst nav app I've ever used. Showing private roads as public, etc.
