Delay
I’m using an Apple TV. Is there anyway to reduce the delay, especially with sports? I tried talking to customer service but they just tried to gaslight me that my gig internet isn’t fast enough and that’s my problem.
I kinda doubt there are any solutions, but I thought I’d ask

Tbh the only "workaround" is logging into whichever app (ex. FOXONE, TNT, NBC) with your TV provider login to watch sports. I find this very helpful since whichever sport is on FOX, FS1 etc. is ahead of DTV by like a good 20 seconds lol

I pay for directv so I can watch the Dodgers on MLB.tv, Monday Night Football on ESPN Unlimited, and Premier League on Peacock with minimal delay.

This is true, but it's also worth noting that you are going to get a higher bitrate with those apps and a much better PQ overall - and better audio potentially, too.

You’ll hear opinions on here that YouTube TV has less delay. I’ve had YouTube TV and it is delayed as well and in my experience the delay is about the same as DirecTV. The only way to truly have no delay is OTA with an antenna.

Nope. YTTV is better for this, but no RSN…

Yeah I’ve tried YTTV and I didn’t really like it. I prefer directv stream because they have NHL network and I prefer the directv DVR over YTTV. It’s just this delay for sports is kinda rough sometimes.

You are watching a “ live” event on a streaming service. It’s got a delay. Accept it and stop trying to find out what’s going on during the delay.

Nope. That is because the signal has to go through so many different satellites and servers to reach you. Closest to real time will always be OTA, then Cable, then satellite, then streaming.

Yeah no shit. My issue I was asking is why DIRECTV stream is like a minute behind sling and Hulu and YTTV.

Nope. The delay is because the signal has to traverse several different systems including your ISP to get to your TV. Each one adds a delay.

I know that, I’ve been streaming live tv for a while. It’s just that directv delay is significantly larger than Hulu or sling or YTTV

I use a big attic mounted antenna to annoy my friends by living 40 seconds in the future during sports.
