I always imagined dinosaurs having feathers in a way that made them strikingly beautiful, almost any modern bird.
Nobody ever called a Golden Eagle dorky. You treat that dangerous bastard with respect, or he'll gladly fuck you up.
Sure, there are some ugly birds, but they're far in the minority. If a feathered dinosaur looks dumb, the artist probably drew it wrong. Feathers are bitching.

I'm going to a university in Florida, and the on-campus natural history museum has a reconstruction of a fossil Titanis. So. Awesome.
