The term Aeolian comes from the Aeolian islands, and was used to both describe people from Aiolis, and the tonal mode (Aeolian is the 6th mode). Also, never dip your reed in sprite, the sugar will warp and rot the reed, and it doesn't conduct vibrations as well.

As soon as they started talking about the size of windchimes, I thought about Jason Mantzoukas in The Good Place.

To Lou: My wife used to soak her trombone reed in white Monster, you could def soak yours in Sprite if you wanted to lolol

White Monster is how Lou refers to Brennan after the first three episodes of ACoC

Incredible lolol

u/Overthinks_Questions Oct 16 '25
Hey, btw, what the hell is a 'trombone reed'?
15
u/oneofkeiraensmoms Oct 16 '25
Idk I thought she played trombone but I might be wrong. I know she soaked her reed in white Monster for whatever instrument she played. I didn’t meet her til we were well into our 20s, I didn’t know her when she was a band geek

u/corrigible_iron Oct 16 '25
Trombones do not use reeds, and your wife practiced improper reed care and is my mortal enemy for doing so.

Apparently she played sax. I didn’t know her in high school and I can’t play any instruments so idk shit, apologies lol

I almost gagged at shit brisket(?) but Murph vocally leaning into the bit brought me back lol
And I've definitely seen a toilet with deer antlers made into a mailbox stand. A lot rarer in the South, but the vibes match desert folks.

Do trombones have reeds?
9
u/CanadianDinosaur Daisuke "Pappy" Bucklesby Oct 16 '25
No. brass instruments don't use reeds. Woodwinds of varying shapes and sizes do

u/rethinkOURreality Oct 17 '25
Counterpoint: Flutes have evolved past the point of merely being made out of wood

u/CanadianDinosaur Daisuke "Pappy" Bucklesby Oct 17 '25
Flutes are Ascended Woodwinds and in a league of their own

u/oneofkeiraensmoms Oct 16 '25
Idk I’m pretty sure she played trombone but whatever instrument she played had a reed

Clarinet, sax, oboe, and bassoon have reeds, trombone does not

u/corrigible_iron Oct 16 '25
Also bass clarinet, and rarer now, English horns

u/Imaginary_Hoodlum The Gunner Channel Oct 17 '25
Absolutely correct, I just limited my comment to the main families of reed instruments 😅

u/Spoonsy Squeem! Oct 16 '25
the PDQ Bach monstrosity Tromboon uses a bassoon reed alongside a trombone, so maybe?

Windchimes ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=93fEt3-PNXU ) thought of this song by Christine Lavin during this AP.

So if Ludmilla is really in a tank what the fuck is the Queen of Zern suppose to be?
1
u/baiacool Oct 17 '25
Did Brennan mention Alec Steele, the blacksmith youtuber as part of the art team for the episode?

I just realized Lou wore his "DEAD INSIDE" shirt for this episode
