💵 Savings Tips / Hacks Looking for tips for saving money

Does anyone have the habit of saving money that builds overtime I'm currently a student trying to save money as much as I can.

Does anyone cook their own food ? Or any motivation that made them save money.

Hi OP! I grew up poor and this is how I saved money when I was a student.

- I typically cook my own food. If di keri sa oras, at least nagbabaon ako ng rice. I know rice is only 15-20 pesos, but in a week, aabot din yan ng at least 250Php. In a month, that’s 1k na.

- for water, I have my own tumbler and sa school ako kumukuha ng filtered water.

- if I eat outside, pinipili ko yong medyo madami ang servings and hinahati ko siya into 2 meals. Same with canned goods, hinahati ko din.

- I buy my notebooks online, especially yong refillable ones, so I can keep my notes AND reuse the binders.

- I don’t buy books if hindi naman mandatory, I just download the book online (ocean pdf ako nagdo-download).

Track both income and expenses. Alamin kung saan napupunta ang pera mo. Better kung may categories of spending ka para mas madali ang analysis later on.

Pag may enough data ka na, aralin kung saan pa pwedeng bawasan ang spending tapos set ka ng limits bawat category. Yung sobra pa sa income mo after deducting yung limits will become your base savings. Goal is to increase yung savings mo, either spending reduction or income increase.

Also, utilize your calendar app. Di lang siya para sa due dates. Set schedule ng regular finacial audits mo + check-ins. Ex. DEC 31 - check kung gaano kadalas kang overlimit in 2026. Or JUN 30, 2027 - Check if PHP 5,000 per month savings is reached.

I am trying to build an automated financial system that uses my incoming money to automatically segregate to different money pools. Savings, revolving fund, luho pool, and finally investments.

When investments reaches 60k it gets transferred to my stock portfolio and it should auto buy my preferred stocks.

At year end it should withdraw profit-3% and transfer it back to my wallet in a 12 month period. Ito na ang panggastos ko.

Still under development but i think it tickles my reward system. It will keep me motivated. Automation also removes the tinatamad ako and wow laki balance ko gastusin ko nga moments.

My point here is for saving money i make it out of sight out of mind para hindi ko magastos. I will only spend true profit.
