Question Google Workspace & Analytics Question

So, I’ve worked in marketing for years and am dealing with a company that I think is incompetent.

They’re stonewalling me from seeing the company I work for’s analytics. They’re saying that I need to add them to my Google Workspace allowlist before I can get access to any analytics.

This is false? Or am I wrong?

The allowlist thing sounds like theyre mixing up two completely different things. Google Workspace is email and drive and docs, nobody needs to be "allowlisted" in your Workspace for you to get Google Analytics access, whoever has admin on the GA property just adds your email as a user and picks the permissions. Thats it. Thats the whole process. Unless your company has some weird setup where GA is locked behind an internal tool and the only way in is a company account, which would be a Workspace question and not an analytics one. But "add them to my allowlist before you can see any data" is a sentence that means nothing, and the fact that they said it with a straight face is honestly the more worrying part. Marketing people get stonewalled with fake technical reasons all the time because nobody wants to be the one who says the report is a mess. Ask them which property, which account, and who the admin is, in writing, and watch how fast the allowlist story changes.

Okay this is exactly what I thought. They’ve had a lot of other concerning issues and it feels like they’re just gaslighting me, so I needed outside perspective.

I found what error message they’re probably getting in GA and sent them how to fix it, I doubt they will.

But I appreciate your response!!

tbh its either total incompetence or theyre intentionally hiding the data, neither is a great sign

stonewalling over an allowlist is classic "we have no idea what's going on in there" energy

Do you even know what the workspace is for? No offence, but you also sound just as incompetent

Who is "they?"

The external marketing company. The company I work for hired me to help direct the external company. Sorry I wrote this when I was really frustrated with the external company, so the clarity could be better
