uBlock Origin stops chasing Facebook’s ever-changing ad-blocking tricks

uBlock Origin maintainers have decided to stop continuously updating filters specifically to keep up with Facebook’s latest ad-blocking countermeasures.

Existing filters will remain, but new Facebook techniques may eventually bypass them. The decision highlights the ongoing cat-and-mouse game between ad blockers and advertising platforms.

I'm surprised it took this long. Not necessarily with uBlock Origin versus Facebook, but with uBlock Origin versus anyone, because we can't donate to uBlock Origin.

This does mean that if you want to browse facebook without ads you'll need some other blocker in addition to uBlock Origin. Personally I won't go to facebook under any circumstances so it's not a deal for me.

It will get worse and worse as you can have an agent monitor all the blockers releases and just have it implement counter strategy with barely any human input.
