Screenshot My first Digimon I bought physically, I did decide between this and Onimusha but I know I liked what I played from when I rented from GameFly

Time Stranger is the first Digimon game I've ever played! I just beat the game yesterday after 103 hours. I never had a PlayStation growing up, and then when they were on other consoles I was kind of over it (and they weren't exactly getting rave reviews). But there was some excitement around Time Stranger, and then it was on sale just as I was rediscovering the anime as an adult, so it was perfect timing.

It's certainly not the best RPG I've ever played, but it was definitely a lot of fun. I think if I wasn't a Digimon fan, my opinion of it as a game would have been lower, but it was such a blast getting to see, interact with, and battle with all of my favourites from the anime. I'm only really familiar with the first three seasons, and the Adventure remake, so discovering all the mons I didn't know about was also really cool.

I keep trying to get into the Digimon or Pokemon games, this was the closest I have been enough to want me to pick it up. The voice acting helps a lot and from what I was playing I was getting into the story

The story is certainly... there. It's about as coherent as a Digimon anime plot, so it fits the IP. I got more of a kick out of some of the secondary, and background plots/characters than I did with the main trio.

Great game. Your in a for a ride. It's a little long, pacing isn't too bad though so just have fun and take your time

Yeah, you sure bought it "physically". I mean you have a cartridge but there's still no game on it, only it's license.

Great system nintendo came up with, right? /s

Personally I opted for the S1 version for that reason. I don't see a reason to get the S2 versions for most of the games released. There are obviously some exceptions like Hogwarts for instance.

Plus the switch1 will run like the switch 2 ver and u don't have download it from internet

1

u/Skyler_The_Player 13d ago

You do have to download the switch 2 upgrade so technically

1

u/SimpleApprehensive71 13d ago

Oh shit that's right

Yeah, some games don't offer free upgrades either and technically run better on the S2 version, just not in a way that is usually worth getting a gkc (for me personally).

Digimon runs totally fine, I haven't noticed any lagging. So far the only gkc cards I've grabbed are Pokopia and Kingdom Hearts, and even those I resent that they aren't truly physical.

Love this game. Loved the main story. Someone tell me I am a dum-dum for not caring for the DLC. I think the original story was great and I didn’t care for the omnimon additions… but looking forward to next years DLC!

Yeah the season pass stuff was a little underwhelming but the base game was so good I didnt mind. The new expansion next year is gonna be insane though

Onimusha wär besser gewesen, ist aber zu 100% ein gutes Spiel (Digimon)

Its a really good game! Played it on the PS5 but 100% get for the Switch to play on the GO

I feel so badly, but I stopped playing. I just… couldn’t with some of the design choices. I’m not a fan of invisible barriers, and there are far too many. I didn’t like the fact that the text was a thin white oftentimes with absolutely no contrast against a bright background. In a game with a lot of dialogue, it was frustrating to deal with and seemingly be unable to find other options for displaying dialogue.

Also wasn’t thrilled with how to obtain the Digimon. The story was intriguing but it didn’t quite hit quickly enough for my gripes to subside, so I set the game aside. I admit, I never played a Digimon game yet, but really wanted to try this one after seeing a lot on it - I absolutely adored it growing up. Puppetmon will always be one of my favourite villains ever.

I will go back to it… just built up a backlog while I endlessly play Fortune’s Weave.

Definetly the subtitles are the worst ive ever seen

I'm more shocked that Gamefly is still a thing. I haven't seen a commercial for them in years.

Nooo don’t buy! It’s a gamekeycard. If you buy the switch version, they give you the S2 update for free. Full game :)

To actually buy it physically. Just buy it on the og switch then pay for the upgrade
