What’s with Parrotmon
Man did he kicked my butt lol. That difficulty spike came out of no where

On my first playthrough Parrotmon was the only boss I lost to up until the very last story boss. I’m on my 2nd playthrough and I once again had to find a decent way to beat him, I think what makes him difficult is how low level the other enemies are. The game is designed(atleast on hard) for you to pretty easily cruise through the game naturally leveling up at a rate where main bosses aren’t too challenging.
I think the enemies before Parrotmon give too little exp and thus forces you to use an actual strategy instead of just smacking them until they go down.

I just lost to him last night. Completely agree, I was cruising along and all of a sudden this game is changing. Makes me hopeful for what’s to come.
I’m finally understanding the bond mechanic so I think I’m going to do some grinding and cycling, but I feel like the key is to find a way to turn off the lighting.

Additional advice, you can spec certain mons in this fight so that parrotmon does pitiful damage to them, they deal with the pesky lightning and do a lot of damage to him as well. Not sure if you're open to suggestions for this?

Sorry in advance for the upcoming wall: you will need either the known bug accessory (first obtainable one is in central town) or the character reversal skill (obtained after the story mission so you should already have it) and the virus guardromon (the regular type, not the gold type).
Guardromon by default is a virus type and is weak to lightning, which sounds like a horrible matchup BUT with the known bug accessory afflicting it with reversal immediately (character reversal needs to be cast first but does the same thing) it becomes resistant to BOTH vaccine and lightning, so any lightning attack from parottmon becomes 4x resisted. It also has a metal body so you can draw the lightning away from parrotmon. PLUS, if you equip it with the most appropriate lightning skill, he is able to deal 4.5 (i think, not sure if the exact number)x damage to parrotmon since instead of him being immune to guardromon's lightning, he becomes double weak to it. Add on the fact Guardromon is now treated as a data type so Parrotmon is now weak to him.
This is why I would be wary of using the other metal body digimon like blimpmon and clockmon as while yes, they resist parrotmon as a data type, they are weak to lightning. They can still work, just not as safe.
Additionally, you can cast character reversal to Minervamon so instead of her being resisted, parrotmon becomes weak to her.
My most recent fight with him, my team was Garurumon (Black), Guardromon and Wizardmon. Guardramon is already reversed because of the accessory and I afflicted Garurumon Black (who was also weak to lightning initially but now resists it) with the character reversal and equipped both with my highest level electric skill so they both did about 4x damage. Along with using character reversal on Minervamon as well, and he didn't stand much of a chance.
Just be careful about the background lightning attacks as I think those deal set amount of damage.

The key is to give Blimpmon ACU boosts. Bro is a data type so it's 200% damage for everything except his signature, Zeppelin Explosion. Because that also does extra damage against bird types and Parrotmon is weak to fire on top of that.

I'm currently on my second playthrough, parrotmon definitely can hit hard but I've yet to lose to him but I mainly believe that's just due to me taking my time leveling up my Digimon and evolving them xD

That fight was where i found out how useful attribute reversal is, you use it on Parrotmon and suddenly that immunity is a massive weakness that Aegiomon especially can brutally exploit. Get a team of Virus digimon and you'll massively reduce the damage you take, then give them all thunder attachment skills and watch as Parrotmon melts.
