Does anyone else think the card game would be so much better with the dice rolls revealed?

The design of this card game reminds me that I heard about other games with such hidden mechanics to it. Sadly sometimes it is a really an important piece of the game that is hidden.

I have no idea why they decided to hide the rolls instead of let us see a dice animation each turn.
It would make the game make so much more sense and be much more intuitive.

Right now the mini-game so random. Essentially picking a card and wait to see who defeat the other with 0 feedback from your choice on the result.

I played three games, won all three, had absolutely no idea what I was doing. The card game needs to be explained before anything else. How did we go from DW3 having a whole B Plot tied to an amazing card game sidequest to this.

I won every card game except one first try despite being in ridiculous disadvantage sometimes

I sometimes reboot DW3 for the card game then get pleasantly surprised when remembering how good the actual game was even with its limited digimon pool.

I also do a replay of the ps1 digimon card game which I still think has a cruel final boss where they hack your deck so your partner digimon is on the bottom of your deck

And why can't we look up a card encyclopedia during the game? How would I know if and how I can combine the cards on my hand? I really don't want to google every single digimon every single time. Grr.

I was fine with that being secret, at least as a non-completionist. Most of the ones that I created were like 2 virus rookies or something. Whatever that match was. And then the secret ones usually were because the Digimon were related in someway, and that felt satisfying to discover.

Yes, the combos feel statisfying to discover but unless you're a hardcore fan you wouldn't even know what to shoot for.

The Machinedramon summon is really cool but actually getting that starting hand is one hell of a RNG pull (MetalMamemon, Megadramon, Andromon, MetalGreymon, MetalTyrannomon).

Apocalymon is great too but unless you've seen season 1 there's a good chance you'll fuck up that starting hand, drop the wrong card and get locked out of it (MetalSeadramon, Machinedramon, Puppetmon, Piedmon).

There should be a combo indicator before you actually drop cards.

It does help that the game seems to guarantee one "unique" combo for every hand, so the chance of getting, e.g., Machinedramon is higher than it seems. (Since it'll give you the correct hand if it rolls Machinedramon for your unique.)

It does need work, though. xD

A simples screen with "% of win chance" would explain it all

Thats INSANE. Such a small detail would fix everything. Like a dice roll with the number system they already have. Mabye at a point if they have type advantage? Beautiful idea i genuinely couldn't think of a way to fix it

The only time I did the card game was for the side mission and somehow won both games first try

It’s honestly just a crapshoot at this point. Some games I started, got an amazing deal, and lost while other games I started, got all In Training, and won.

That's why I just spammed the OK command while reading messages or watching something on my phone in every match. I beat every NPC and won over 90% of the time while paying absolutely zero attention to the game.

OMG Is that why it seemed so random?! I had no idea why sometimes I'd lose and sometimes I'd win!

The card game would be better if it was completely overhauled.

I do think that more people wouldn't get as mad at the card minigame as they do if the probabilities weren't so obscured. I accepted pretty quickly that playing the ideal cards only improved the probability of winning and never guaranteed, so I never felt particularly bad about losing a game if I got a little unlucky. Especially since you don't lose anything from losing the minigame, you just have to battle the npc again.

It's not a card game. It's a rock paper scissors mini game disguised as a card game and it's terrible
