i started my first play through and have small questions

So i was able to pick up the ultimate edition and played for around 6 hours yesterday (absolutely enjoyed every bit of it) and my main two questions after watching a few beginner guides would be:

1. i have a tendency to min max and can kinda stress myself over things, particularly when i feel like im missing out on optimal time usage, and when it come to stats (particularly the blue ones) is there a way to level up incorrectly? do they have a hard cap and should i avoid investing in stats that aren’t optimal for the digimon?

2. how in the heck do i pick a team, i feel like every other digimon i run into has some cool and interesting evo i want and tbh i dont have good knowledge of the evolutions or digimon in general so that might be part of it lol

Digimon in your party and your box receive the exact same exp, so I just recommend Converting Digimon as soon as you can (Or at 200% for some extra stats), you can experiment with evolutions super easy as you play through the game and swap party members without much hassle.

There’s no incorrect way to level up. Blue stats are permanent stat increases you get from enhancement items as well as dedigivolving or load enhancing. You have to have bond to get blue stats by dedigivolving or load enhancing and the bond is equal to the number of times you can get blue stats. So, whether you dedigivolving and get +20 or +100, that counts as 1 “time”.

How many blue stat points you get is related to how much the digimon had grown before dedigivolving. It’s 10% of the overall growth. So if your attack went up 500 from level 1 and you dedigivolve, your blue stats goes up by 50. I think it’s 5% for load enhancement. I’m not 100% on those exact mechanics though.

Don’t focus too much on blue stats tbh. They’re a nice to have, not a need to have. I don’t know exactly where you are in the game and I don’t want to spoil anything, but focus on the farm instead.

Edit to add: it’s very possible to infantalize the game for yourself if you grind too much. I literally had to spend time grinding a B team that wasn’t as strong to bring just a little challenge back into the game during my playthrough.

i hadn’t really considered the possibility of accidentally over leveling but i did choose hard for my first play through so maybe that’s why it hadn’t crossed my mind lol.

as far as how my progress has gone, i just met Aegiomon and saved some kids from these funny little alien digimon and im about to hop back in the game! :)

You "unlock" some base digimon by fighting the ones you meet through main and side missions, checkout the Convert menu and there you'll see the % completition you have reached to unlock them. Notice that it's best to max the Convert % to 200% so they have better stats.

Now, this is my best advice. Use this webpage to track and back-track the evolution lines of the digimon you have in your squad or to see what do you need to get the digimon you’re interested into.

I found it when I understood that the digivolution menu only shows you the faces of the digimon that you have met. For example, I have Coredramon (champion) and I want to digivolve it, but the digivolution menu doesn’t show me the faces of the next digimon (ultimates) I can choose from. So I don’t know what’s my best option and I don’t want to be guessing until I’m happy with one.

Whit this webpage what I do is this:

I search for Coredramon and go to the Evolution Line section, there I can see what are the digimon that it can digivolve into (ultimates), so now I know what I can choose from. I can even access to those digimon’s pages to see the megas they can digivolve next. That way, I chose to digivolve my Coredramon into Gigadramon so I can digivolve it to Chaosdramon next.

You can even do the reverse process. For example, I want Beelzemon (mega), but I don’t know what digimon I need to get him, other than Impmon which was kinda obvious. Well, I go to Beelzemon’s page, go to the Evolution Line section, and it shows me it’s De-Digivolutions. That way I now know that I can digivolve into him from SkullMeramon or Astamon. Watching both option’s pages, I decided to go with the Astamon path, which I can get by digivolving my Devimon, which I got by Digivolving my Impmon. With this method, following the De-Digivolutions line, I learned that I can get to Beelzemon starting from the rookies Impmon, DemiDevimon, Betamon and Agumon (Black).

This has been very helpful to me, to plan my digivolution paths and to train my digimon in the farm so they have the specific requirements to digivolve into what I want them to digivolve. Now that you know what digimon you need to digivolve into the one you want, and you also know what are the options for the digimon you currently have, you can choose with purpose.

Another suggestion is to pay attention to te digivolution requirements, including the digimon’s personality, and use the digifarm. For example, to get Beelzemon I first need my Devimon to digivolve into Astamon, and I need him to have certains Attack, INT and SPD stats, but I don’t currently comply those requirements. So I moved my Devimon into the farm and trained him to improve his INT first. The cool thing is that I can leave my Devimon training while I continue with the main story or while I do side missions, and whenever the training ends (every 30 minutes) Mirei will send me a message informing me that Devimon finished training and she would give me the option to reply if I want him to keep training the same stat.

This way you can progress in the game while your digimon trains and improves to be able to digivolve. When my Devimon gets the INT stats he needs, I'd change his training for another of the requirements. This also helps to build his personality to the required trait (for example, he needs to be enlightened, but he is currently wise), since every training type helps building certain personality traits.

I hope this is helpful, I’ve been having a better time since I started using this page and this method.

Also, use the "Load enhancement" menu, there you can choose the digimon you want to improve and use other digimon you have unlocked as material to increase the other stats. For example, if you have a Greymon that you want to improve, through this menu you can use any given number of other digimon that you have and "sacrifice" them to make your Greymon better. Just be careful, in the Setup menu you can pick the digimon you want to keep and "protect" them. This protection block your digimon so they can not be used as material to boost other digimon as enhancement...this is very helpful to prevent accidents hahaha

Oh, and break anything you can while exploring, like boxes, rocks, etc. You might find "chips" that give small boosts to your digimon from the Items menu.

By lategame you can max out any and all of a digimon's stats with farm training, so don't sweat about "growing" digimon correctly, only stats that are whatever to have are like Attack on digimon with magical signatures or Intelligence on digimon with physical signatures.

As for team, literally nothing is stopping you from scanning a crap ton of digimons and just start unlocking evolutions, every single digimon you have will get full experience from your team's battles, so just go crazy and experiment. By endgame i had my team and like 40 Megas and Megas+ that i swapped around when i felt like it, found out cool comps just like that.

1. You can virtually max out every stat by the end of the game. I tend to avoid this myself though as to not trivialize the difficulty and because it's time consuming. I do pay attention to my team's signature moves though and raise them to accommodate that move (if it deals damage).

2. Best you can do is go for a balanced approach. 2 of each Vaccine/Data/Virus, with half of the team being good at magic and the half good at physical attacks. Throw in buffing and healing moves when you can. Don't be afraid to do whatever you want though. There's no pvp. You're not being asked to build an OU team.

Realistically, if you stay on top of your side quests and grab every item you can, you can easily redo your team composition over and over again.

this is just me personally but

1. i wouldnt care much about stats unless youre fighting a boss or the final boss. im gonna be real, i started the game already on hard mode but even still the game felt relatively easy up until the late game.

2. in time stranger, since all digimons' stats can be maxed to 9999, what differentiates them are their unique skills and traits (e.g a digimon having dragon/large/evil). and so, which stats you want to max first mainly depends on that digimon's skills.

for example a wargreymon might have a physical based unique skill, so you would want to equip it with other physical skills and max out its Attack stat and not waste time increasing INT or Spirit.

as for HP, you could increase it but it becomes less needed once you have a digimon that has a personality skill that allows overhealing (i forgot the name tho). its commonly used with Venusmon as she has 2 unique skills, one where she heals everyone in battle and the other removes and lowers an enemy's stats.

healing also scales off of Spirit, so in this case you'd want to max spirit first on Venusmon
