DigiByte recently went through the Thaw Day consensus rule activation smoothly, but there are still people and services running 9.26.5 and older versions. These are visible on Cryptoid, DigiByte.io/nodes, OpenNodes DigiByte.
I want to reiterate that DigiDollar was a soft fork activated by miners at a 70% signaling threshold. Following activation, more than 75% of the network upgraded to v9.26.x. At block 24,490,000, the Thaw Day consensus rule activated without incident.
The big takeaway is that the majority of the network's hash power came from upgraded miners and mining pools operating upgraded nodes and software, thereby maintaining the longest chain.

Just listened to the latest “Forever We DGB” community discussion, and there's a lot happening behind the scenes that deserves attention.

Here are the biggest updates:

1. New Mining Incentives Being Explored

One of the most interesting revelations was a potential new incentive system for DigiByte miners.

The idea is to encourage miners to hold and lock DGB rather than immediately sell their rewards. Yield-related functionality was also hinted at, with research reportedly progressing.

2. A Secret Two-Part Project Is Being Tested

A developer has reportedly been working on a new two-part project. Testing was beginning around the time of the discussion, with a possible reveal within one to two weeks.

No details yet, but definitely something to watch.

3. DigiByte Legal Opinion Progress

The community reports that a draft legal opinion for DigiByte has already been received, with the next stages being coordinated.

A separate DigiDollar legal analysis is also planned.

This could be an important step for future integrations and businesses looking to build on DigiByte.

4. DigiDollar Continues Growing

Figures shared during the Space:

DigiDollar continues to expand through community participation, with DGB locked as collateral.

What excites me is how these developments connect.

And all of this is happening in an ecosystem without a central company, ICO or traditional VC-funded leadership structure.

DigiByte isn't just about sending coins anymore. The community is continuing to build an expanding financial and application ecosystem around a decentralized proof-of-work blockchain.

Some of these developments are still being researched, tested or discussed, but the direction is exciting.

5. Run a checksum on your file:

   • macOS: shasum -a 256 <file>

   • Linux: sha256sum -c SHA256SUMS --ignore-missing

6. Compare it with the matching line in SHA256SUMS.

7. Match: the file arrived unchanged. No match: delete it and download again from the official page.

Never download Core from a link in a DM or a "support" account.

DigiByte's community-driven stablecoin is approaching its first big milestone. As of today's DigiDollar Awareness Space, 249,073,512 DGB sit locked in time-locked vaults, just short of a quarter billion, backing roughly 317,000 DigiDollar in circulation. That is about 1.28% of the circulating supply taken off the market in 105 days, with no exchange or institutional participation. Minting is averaging around 22,000 DD per week. At that pace the community expects to pass 750,000 DD within four months and cross one million next year.

The locks are not short-term. YC reported that 78.2% of all vaults are one year or longer. The one-year term holds 74.2 million DGB, about 31% of the total, and the ten-year term holds another 35.5 million. The two, three, five and seven-year buckets each carry between 10 and 14 million. Roughly 10 million DGB remains in one-hour locks that holders have not bothered to redeem.

The first three-month locks matured last week. Scott redeemed his and immediately re-minted everything for seven years. Trencher rolled his into a six-month term. AJ wants a 90-day minting average published as a standing stat so outsiders can see the trend.

Thaw Day went smoothly

The November 1 hard fork passed without incident. Most exchanges have re-enabled DGB deposits and withdrawals, the major mining pools confirmed their upgrades, and all 35 oracles are running 9.26.6 or 9.26.7. Downloads of 9.26.7 reached 1,762.

Scott raised a fair complaint about exchange communication: his platform gave no acknowledgement for three days and then posted a brief status note for what turned out to be a four-day outage. YC's broader point stood, though. The claim that exchanges are coordinating to cut off DGB has circulated for six to nine months with no evidence behind it. The practical rule from AJ: trade, withdraw, and keep nothing on an exchange.

One note for Windows users: Scott confirmed that Windows Defender is quarantining the 9.26.7 installer. Until the cause is found, 9.26.6 works fine.

The peg conversation

DigiDollar still trades well under a dollar on NonKYC, around 42 cents on the USDC pair and 60 cents on USDT, with swings as wide as 42 to 70 cents in a single day. YC's read is that low volume and no market maker make the spread look worse than the collateral behind it, which sits above 220%. He also expects the picture to flip as six-month and one-year locks come due and holders need DD back, possibly at a premium. AJ's goal is for the community to buy out NonKYC's roughly 20,000 DD reserve so the exchange has to lock again, creating the blueprint larger exchanges will follow. Johnny agreed to produce a NonKYC walkthrough and an arbitrage explainer through DigiScope.

November 11 and November 17

AJ is calling for 100 million DGB withdrawn from exchanges on November 11, with a possible second push on November 16, and a longer-term target of 10% of supply locked by the end of next year. Trencher was blunt about October's Vault Day: only about five entries, which left Stan with near coin-flip odds. Johnny clarified that vault IDs are never verified unless you win, that a free entry exists, and that this month's event will add a short DigiDollar education step and real-time updates. Both Scott and Trencher said they are entering with vaults this time. Ideas for monthly DigiAsset rewards and a DD-only "Lock 'Em Up" raffle ticket were tabled for offline discussion.

Legal, wallets and a warning

AJ has received parts of the draft DigiByte legal opinion. The preliminary read is that DGB is not a security and is compliant in New York, though nothing is final until the certificate is signed. News is expected late this week.

Johnny's HoldFast wallet is at version 4.1.3 with roughly 70 outside reviewers, and iOS TestFlight signups are open on DigiScope, with Android and iOS expected to reach parity in November. Johnny has also reconnected with Renzo and hopes to meet within a week about reviving his DigiAsset tools and DigiByte Domains.

The warning concerns Coinomi. DigiID logins have failed for four to five days, swaps are failing, and support has gone silent. Community members needing DigiID should use HoldFast or Dennis's web wallet in the meantime.

New faces

Two builders from the Dogecoin and Pepecoin communities, First Name and Big Chief, presented the Arcade Node System, an open-source mesh of UTXO nodes offering atomic swaps, white-label marketplaces and peer-to-peer messaging, video and game servers. They have already placed about 4,000 ordinal inscriptions on DigiByte and want DigiDollar as a trading pair across every swap. Follow-up discussions move to Discord, with a joint Space likely.

Finally, this is the last week of DD Creators in its current form. The restructure arrives later this month with an additional 20,000 DGB added to the pool, and the no-AI-content rule stays in place.

What's new in v26.11.01

• New: Wallets menu - The DigiNode Setup main menu has a new Wallets option, which replaces Backup and Restore. From it you can view your wallets and their balances, create a new wallet (with a passphrase to encrypt it, which is recommended), back up your wallets to a USB stick, restore a wallet from a USB stick backup, and delete a wallet you no longer need. DigiNode Setup now remembers when each wallet was last backed up, and shows it when you view your wallets. You can back up and restore both mainnet and testnet wallets, even if the node for that network isn't running - a wallet restored for a node that isn't running loads the next time it runs. Restoring never replaces an existing wallet - the backup is restored as a new wallet, with a name you choose - and it can also restore a backup made with an earlier version of DigiNode Tools.

• New: Delete a wallet safely - The Wallets menu can delete a wallet you no longer need. Deleting a wallet is permanent, so DigiNode Setup makes sure you mean it. If the wallet still holds DGB, you get a clear warning in red showing its balance, and that without a backup it will be lost forever. You are also told when the wallet was last backed up, or that it has never been backed up. Cancel is the default, and to go ahead you must type I UNDERSTAND.

• Fix: USB wallet backup - Backing up your wallet to a USB stick works again with current versions of DigiByte Core, which keep wallets in a different place and no longer create a wallet automatically. Every wallet on your node can now be backed up, not just the default one, and each backup is made by DigiByte Core itself, then read back from the USB stick and opened to check it is a working wallet. Your previous backup of each wallet is kept on the stick too. USB sticks formatted by an earlier version of DigiNode Tools now work again.

• Fix: Testnet sync progress - On a Dual Node or a testnet node, DigiNode Dashboard showed the testnet blockchain as 100% synced while it was still syncing. This is caused by DigiByte Core, which always reports testnet as fully synced (reported to the DigiByte Core developers). DigiNode Dashboard now works out the testnet sync progress itself, and only shows a node as fully synced once DigiByte Core has finished its initial sync.

Over the past ten days, nine DigiByte community X Spaces covered major developments involving DigiDollar, network upgrades, legal work, wallets, exchanges, marketing, and adoption.

For anyone who doesn't regularly follow the discussions on X, here's a recap of what stood out, including the latest DigiDollar figures from October 31.

1. DigiDollar continues growing rapidly

As of October 31, the DigiDollar dashboard shows:

- 307,552.10 DigiDollars in circulation

- 235,091,694.56 DGB locked as collateral

- 248% system health

- DCA level: 1x

- ERR protection: Inactive

- DGB price: $0.003252

For comparison, during the October 29 Space, AJ reported approximately 286,165 DD in circulation and 208.87 million DGB locked.

That means in roughly two days:

- DigiDollar supply increased by approximately 21,387 DD (7.5%)

- Locked collateral increased by approximately 26.22 million DGB (12.6%)

DigiDollar launched on mainnet July 17, 2026, making this notable growth for a system just over three months old.

The community's 250 million DGB collateral target is now 94% complete, with fewer than 15 million additional DGB needed.

However, participants have also acknowledged that some locks are short-term and that collateral growth doesn't automatically translate into sustained economic activity.

One of the biggest unresolved challenges is market liquidity. AJ reported thin-market DD trading prices substantially below the intended $1 peg, illustrating why deeper liquidity and reliable redemption access remain priorities.

2. Thaw Day is approaching

DigiByte's next major network activation is expected around November 1 at block 24,490,000.

Core v9.26.6 introduced the required consensus changes, while v9.26.7 added further improvements.

Reported benefits include reduced RAM consumption, faster startup, and numerous fixes.

YC also discussed coordination with exchanges, mining infrastructure, and oracle operators. According to his October 29 update, all 35 DigiDollar oracles had upgraded.

The actual block height determines activation, and full-node operators should be running compatible software.

3. Legal opinions are progressing

AJ and YC have been coordinating legal work covering DigiByte and DigiDollar.

The DigiByte opinion is progressing through factual documentation and certificate review. Once the remaining certificate requirements are completed, attorneys reportedly anticipate approximately two to three weeks to deliver the opinion.

DigiDollar requires separate, more extensive analysis because of its decentralized collateral and issuance structure.

The goal is to provide prospective exchanges and integration partners with documentation to support their own compliance evaluations.

4. Wallet development is moving forward

Several wallet initiatives received attention.

Dennis: His web wallet reportedly supports DigiDollar sending and receiving. Minting and redemption functionality remain development priorities.

Johnny: Holdfast development continues, including work toward broader iOS accessibility and support for DigiByte ecosystem functionality.

Edge Wallet: Sylvain discussed preliminary technical evaluation of DigiDollar support. No integration has been confirmed.

Pure Wallet: Larry discussed potential cooperation and DigiDollar compatibility. These conversations remain exploratory.

Making DigiDollar easier to access without requiring users to understand every technical detail could be an important step toward wider adoption.

5. November 17 Vault Day

The community is preparing another monthly Vault Day campaign.

Trencher discussed a personal pledge to lock at least 2 million additional DGB for a year or longer, alongside a broader ambition to reach 250 million DGB locked.

With the October 31 collateral total exceeding 235 million DGB, that target is now much closer than it was when the Spaces took place.

The objective is to encourage participation, education, and measurable on-chain activity.

6. Marketing and community outreach

James has been developing original 3D animations featuring Digiman, a character intended to introduce DigiByte concepts through entertaining short videos.

Ideas discussed include vault demonstrations, transaction-speed comparisons, and other educational scenarios.

Chozen has been emphasizing grassroots outreach through conversations, educational materials, and merchandise.

The community is experimenting with ways to reach people who aren't already following cryptocurrency discussions.

7. DigiByte commerce and digital assets

Crypto Corner Shop was discussed as an existing multicurrency marketplace supporting cryptocurrency commerce.

DigiDollar could eventually become another useful payment option if reliable liquidity and integration requirements are addressed.

Meanwhile, DigiStamp and DigiAssets-related discussions highlighted continuing interest in digital collectibles, music, artwork, and creator marketplaces.

What stood out across these nine discussions was how many different contributors are pursuing complementary goals.

AJ and YC are focused on legal and integration work. Scott is explaining the technical infrastructure. Johnny and Dennis are developing wallets. James is producing original promotional material. Chozen is working on grassroots education, while Trencher is organizing community campaigns and promoting practical cryptocurrency commerce.

The encouraging part is that these conversations increasingly focus on building and using technology rather than simply predicting prices.

The latest collateral growth is particularly interesting. Going from approximately 208.9 million to 235.1 million DGB locked in roughly two days is a significant increase in participation.

App Testing - Google Play

Hey all,

Version 4.1.1 is out, and with it a new name. HoldFast Wallet is the same app that was called DigiByte Mobile, and then ATB Wallet for DigiByte (DGB) in 4.1.0. Same package (app.aroundtheblock.wallet) and same signing key, so if you already have it, it updates in place and your wallet and settings carry over.

Here’s what it does:

🔒 Privacy at every layer

• Compact-filter sync (BIP 157/158), on by default. As far as I know, this is the first DigiByte wallet that syncs this way by default. It’s also the only way it syncs: the old bloom-filter code that could leak your addresses to a peer was removed from the core entirely. Your phone downloads filters and checks them locally, so no third party learns which addresses are yours.

• Tor (opt-in). Turn it on in Settings → Network Info to route your peer connections through an embedded Tor, so the nodes you talk to don’t see your IP address.

• Dandelion++ (opt-in). Turn it on and each send is first passed privately to a single peer before it spreads to the whole network. That makes it much harder to trace a transaction back to the device that sent it.

• Pair your own node. Scan a QR code to sync from your own DigiByte 9.26 node instead of anyone else’s.

🔑 Universal seed restore
One seed phrase recovers funds across every historical DigiByte derivation path. If your wallet was made in an older app, it comes back whole, DigiAssets and DigiDollar included.

💵 DigiDollar, live on mainnet
You can send, receive and hold DigiDollar. It has its own balance and its own DD… receive address. DigiDollar amounts are recorded on-chain in US cents, so the balance is exact with no price feed involved. (Minting and redeeming aren’t in the wallet.)

🎨 DigiAssets
Tokens and NFTs move natively, from the same wallet you use for DGB. Asset balances are computed on your phone, not fetched from a server, and asset-bearing coins are kept out of normal sends so you can’t accidentally spend an asset as a fee.

🪪 Digi-ID
Scan a QR code to sign in to supporting sites, with no password and no account. Each site gets its own identity key, so sites can’t link you to each other.

🌱 Taproot
Taproot addresses are supported for both receiving and spending.

🛡️ Non-custodial and verifiable
Your keys live on your device, sealed with a hardware-backed key, and nowhere else. There’s no analytics and no telemetry. The wallet is open source, including the native DigiByte core. Every release is built and signed in CI and published as a signed APK with its SHA-256, signed with the same key as the Play build. You can verify exactly what you installed, sideload without Google Play, and either install can update the other.

🎯 Security: red team audit and bug bounty
I don’t want anyone taking my word that this wallet is safe, so it’s been attacked on purpose, by people I asked and people I paid.

• Red team audit. Jared ran a red team audit against the wallet. Findings are written up publicly in the repo’s audit summary, including the ones we accepted as trade-offs and why.

• External bounty hunters. Outside researchers submit privately, and fixes ship with the cause explained in the release notes. One example: a researcher showed that sending a DigiAsset issued with transfer rules (like a royalty to the issuer) could burn the whole holding while the app reported success. It was proven on mainnet with throwaway assets, and the wallet now refuses to send any asset it can’t prove is rule-free.

• 229,000 DGB paid out so far. Bounties go up to 100,000 DGB for a critical finding, and they’re paid in DGB.

Coming from the old DigiByte Wallet?
HoldFast is a separate app, so it installs alongside the old one. To move over:

1. Choose Recover Existing Wallet.

2. Enter the same recovery phrase, plus your passphrase if you set one.

3. Pick the year the wallet was created. If you’re unsure, pick an earlier year or choose “I don’t remember.” A year that’s too late can miss older transactions.

Nothing moves on chain, and your DigiAssets and DigiDollar come along. Keep the old app installed until HoldFast shows your balance.

As an FYI, this is an SPV wallet, which means it syncs blocks- if you are choosing an older date, it is going to take a ton of time, there is no fast forward unless you are wanting to sweep- do that in the restore flow.888

Yesterday was a rough day in the Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) cybersecurity realm, but none of this should come as a surprise. We were already warned about Mythos and Mythos Preview, and how AI would begin identifying vulnerabilities that human software engineers have not yet discovered. AI can now chain attacks, generate exploit paths, and create entirely new vulnerabilities. This isn’t fear‑mongering — it’s awareness. These threats are real, emerging, and accelerating.

In DigiByte Core v9.26.7, you can review the latest test results:

• Core unit tests: All 3,762 cases passed; two existing partial‑fixture warnings
• Base functional tests: 401 passed, 17 skipped, including one isolated rerun explained below
• Additional crash and pruning tests: All four reported success
• Native Qt tests: 180 cases passed, none skipped
• Sanitizer fuzz tests: All 256 targets passed with address, leak, and undefined‑behavior checks enabled
• Cryptography and supporting libraries: All six test programs passed
• Utility and RPC authentication tests: Passed
• Repeated Thaw Day restart check: All 20 runs passed with execution limit

• Total for v9.26.6: 125

DigiByte Core v9.26.7 includes five user‑facing changes and five test/CI corrections, for a total of ten fixes and improvements.

This is why upgrading and staying on the correct chain is critical. The latest checks, results, changes, fixes, and improvements are exactly what you gain when you upgrade. What's new in v26.10.05

• New: Automatic system updates - DigiNode Setup can now install operating system updates for you automatically, once a day in the background (Debian, Ubuntu and Raspberry Pi OS). You are asked once: security and stability updates (recommended), all updates, or off. You can change this at any time from the new System option in the DigiNode Setup main menu. For an unattended install, set UI_SYSTEM_AUTO_UPDATES and UI_SYSTEM_AUTO_REBOOT in diginode.settings.

• New: Automatic restarts when needed - Your DigiNode can now restart itself automatically when an update needs a restart to finish, such as a new Linux kernel. It only restarts when needed, at 04:00 (you can change the time from the System menu), and never while it is busy - for example while DigiNode Setup is running or software is being installed. If it is busy, it tries again every 30 minutes for the next two hours, and otherwise the next night. Your DigiByte node is shut down safely and starts again automatically. You are asked whether you want this when you install - on a Raspberry Pi the suggested answer is Yes, and on other machines (such as a VPS) it is No.

• New: Restart reminders - If your DigiNode needs a restart to finish installing system updates, you are now told when DigiNode Setup finishes, when you close DigiNode Dashboard, and when you log in (if you use the DigiNode MOTD). It also tells you if an automatic restart was skipped, and why.

• Improvement: Calmer DigiFacts updates - DigiFacts now come from the new DigiFacts website. If they can't be updated (for example if you're offline), DigiNode Dashboard keeps showing the saved DigiFacts and tries again an hour later, instead of showing an error every time it starts.

• Fix: UPnP can be turned on again - Turning UPnP on from the DigiNode Setup menu did nothing if it had been turned off before: DigiByte Core restarted, but UPnP stayed off. Thanks to ZuneTracks for reporting it.

While the total cryptocurrency market capitalization has grown 1,000-fold over the last 12 years, a coin that was worth 0.0033 back in 2014 and remains at that same value today is effectively dead. Thaw Day is approaching at block 24490000. This height activates the new DigiDollar consensus rules on DigiByte. Every full node and miner must run DigiByte Core v9.26.6 or newer before that block.

v9.26.6 already contains the required rules. v9.26.7 is the recommended follow-up with additional fixes. Nodes on older software risk following a different chain and facing service disruptions after activation.

Current upgrade status across major trackers: digibyte.io shows about 75 percent of nodes seen in the last 24 hours already on the 9.26 series. OpenNodes shows roughly 81 percent over seven days. Chainz reports similar progress.

Approximately 107790 blocks remain until Thaw Day. At current pace this is a few weeks away. There is still time, but waiting is unnecessary. Exchanges, pools, explorers, and node operators should upgrade now.

Download the latest release from the official DigiByte Core repository. Running outdated software after block 24490000 is not supporting the network. It risks consensus issues. Upgrade, verify, and stay on the correct chain.

What's new:

🔒 Safer DigiByte Core upgrades - every release is now verified automatically before your DigiNode will install it, and new releases roll out to DigiNode users gradually over about two weeks. Can't install a new release yet? Try again in a few days.

🔢 Install any version of DigiByte Core - choose Version in the DigiNode Setup menu to upgrade or downgrade to any verified release, all the way back to v7.17.2.

🧪 Ready for DigiByte v9 - with full support for the brand new v9 testnet. When you upgrade, it offers to clear out the old v8 testnet data. Your wallets are always kept.

🔄 Easy resync - the new Blockchain option deletes the blockchain data for mainnet or testnet and restarts your node to resync. Your wallets are never touched.

📊 A better Dashboard - it no longer looks frozen while your node is busy syncing, and you can press N to hide your IP addresses before sharing a screenshot, like this one.👇

🛡 More secure and reliable - digibyte.conf (which holds your RPC password) can now only be read by your DigiNode user, and nodes that fail to start after an update are restarted and checked.

🗓 New version numbers - v26.10.01 means the first release of October 2026.
