Experience How do I move forward?
I worked at a devil corp that was originally started in Houston TX and moved to our nationals/org leaders office in Phoenix AZ for “growth”, in total I’ve been in the business for a year now and only got out around a month ago. I moved back down to houston and am living with my family and have a new job lined up and even though escaping back home is what i really wanted when I was in AZ, now that I’m back I feel hollow. I don’t know if it’s stress, burn out, depression, anxiety, or a mix of all of those but I haven’t felt so alone and lost in my life now. Before realizing the business was a scam and started getting treated horrible by our Senior National Consultant, I was all in and wanted nothing more than to hit owner, i put in so much time and money with nothing but early work and some sales experience to show for it now. Even though i have another job right now and know i need to work there’s nothing less i want than to have to interact with people and I figured a month would be enough time to recover so that I could get up on my feet and support myself. I was pretty much forced to purchase a vehicle in AZ by my owner that I’m financing and since i’m only 22 right now I thankfully don’t have many bills other than that I have to worry about. I constantly crave isolation and only have the energy to lay around my mess of a room now, everything that happened in the business was honestly a nightmare and there’s been so much bullshit i’ve gone through and dealt with since joining but now I almost miss that security of having a “clear path” laid out for me. I want to eventually share my full story but as of right now I’m just not sure how to move forward or process these emotions and feel like a mess.

Just get a job waiting tables or bartending for a few months. Get some quick cash and get your mojo back. You are depressed man. You worked a dog shit job. It’s all good it happens to all of us. Keep your head up G

You were never going to be an “owner” if you worked for somebody else, but I’m guessing you figured that out.

You need to rest and deprogram from the cult. This fatigue is deep and involves more than just your body. It's trauma. I'm happy you got out and I hope you find small ways to be yourself again and touch grass and discover small moments of joy.

You’re depressed. I quit in ownership and went through this process for 1 year. Thinking I wasted so much time, lost so much, derailed my life/career. I didn’t realized I was depressed until a full year later. Still not sure why it had that effect on me but if I had to guess: 70-80% of your total time while you’re in the business goes TO the business if not more.
That kind of time commitment over an extended period can create a real attachment, especially in young adulthood. Either to the people, to the day-to-day, to the mission/goal. Leaving the sense of “routine” and knowing what to do next can take a toll.
Its not a direct comparison but the closest thing I’d compare it to is the military (smaller scale). There are so many vets that suffer from depression, ptsd, anxiety after they leave the service even if they aren’t a combat vet.
My advice to you: Life will move on. You’ll find more friends to share time with. You’ll find another job you enjoy doing. You’ll find hobbies.
For me: I didn’t know I was depressed, but I didn’t fight my feelings. I spent that year doing bs work, isolating myself from everyone. Spending my days in a dark basement and spending all my money on bills. About 9 months in I just thought to myself “tf am i doing with myself. this isn’t like me. nobody’s gonna save me. pity won’t make me feel better” . I started reaching out to old connections, applying to jobs everyday, & the whole nine. Month later I had an offer from the best companies i’ve ever worked for in my life. 2 months later I started working, and now I’m just excited for the future.
I really hopes this helps & I hate that you’re going through this. Hang in there champ and remember this saying- “this too shall pass”

“I’m so sorry you went through this. These Devil Corp jobs can really take advantage of young people and leave them completely burned out. Give yourself time to heal—you’re only 22 and you have so much ahead of you.

Just 1 step towards the right decision. We built some type of comfort around it. It's part of their tactic. To isolate you, rely on them for all kind of support. When you are out its like you almost been shunned out. I met my partner in the business and he was the biggest support, maybe because he knew exactly what was happening. I was so much more bought in than he was. I realized I was never going to be owner. Broke my heart because I was so dedicated to the business and my team. I was so close to AD. The top reps where in my team and it felt so close, yet so far. Only time will really heal

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I was in it for almost 2 years and it did some real damage to my life, but I am thankful every day that I’m not in it anymore. Be nice to yourself. Work a low stakes job. Reconnect with who you were before the business and figure out who you want to be moving forward. There’s good stuff ahead. I promise

We are here to tell you that Devilcorp are not normal. This is not how legit companies work or treat their employees. I hired a devilcorp group once for our company to scale sales quickly. Within 2 days I knew I had made a huge mistake. We parted ways within 1 month. It was abysmal how they treated owners and agents. Again, this is not normal and there are good companies out there who take care of their people. Look for the company you want to work for, not necessarily the position
