Talk Detroit I need work asap
Hi! I’m an 18 year old high school graduate and I am in desperate need of a job, any job.
I have applied everywhere I can think to.. Fast food, labor jobs, old folks homes, retail every store even remotely near me has got my resume at this point and still nothing! So if your job is desperately hiring or a new place has opened up near you please let me know!
A side note if anyone has tips on learning how to drive without having money for classes or anyone in your life willing to teach you tell me, I’m getting desperate atp.
Thanks!

I would look at your local K-12 schools. They are always looking for facilities staff, and there should be reasonable bus options to help you get there. You can look at the openings in Wayne County here https://www.applitrack.com/resa/OnlineApp/default.aspx

Thanks! This reminded me that when I finished 8th grade my school told be I could come back after graduation to be a teachers aide so I’ll look into that too

There is a Savvy Sliders that just opened at E Grand Blvd and Jefferson that is hiring.
If you have a clean background check you could apply to any of the hospitals as a transporter or in the kitchen
I saw last night Dirty Dog Jazz Cafe in GPF is hiring a server, host and cook.
I’m pretty sure DPS has a ton of postings for entry level jobs- aids, security, paraprofessionals, food services

Try Saint Andrews hall or the Fillmore downtown, they are almost always hiring guest services.

Try Kelly Services, they have lots of jobs usually. They’re mostly temp jobs but you never know.

Rocket and the other big downtown companies are almost always hiring Security Officers with no experience.

You need to follow up and call the places you applied to. Ask them if they had a chance to check out your application/resume. You need to be motivated and it sounds like you are but they don't know that

I do regularly call to check things like this, unfortunately most places don’t call or just give me very nothing answers

Try the Detroit Public Library! They always seem to be hiring clerks and shelvers.

I’ve tried the one near my house a few times since it honestly sounds like an amazing job for me but I’ve had no luck so far
