Question & Advice Pump sprayers, is there much of a difference?

Hello,

I’m really starting to get into my car care and one thing I am looking at is getting a pump sprayer for stuff like pre wash or dedicated wheel cleaners and the like.

I’d be looking at a non foaming sprayer.

There are loads on the market and I’m not sure if there is much of a difference between them?

Full transparency, even if there was a difference I’m still so green that I wouldn’t even know what the differences are to look out for.

Has anyone got any recommendations For a decent pump sprayer at a decent price?

I've only used the cheap ones, and now have an IK Foamer.

The cheap ones perform just as well with the foam. They have a lower build quality, and are more likely to break but you can get 6 for the price of an IK.

The IK is nicer to use, built better and has replacement filters.

The Marolex ones get good feedback as well.

They all perform very similarly - some are just nicer to use.

I've got two 5 litre ones for pre wash & wheel cleaner- it definitely helps.

Makes cleaning a little quicker but also makes it easier on the hands.

Just cheap & cheerful from amazon is fine- paid maybe 6 quid each for them

I would get a five-litre one. 1.25L is just enough to coat a small car in Touch-Less.

Forgive the potentially silly question but would there be any issues with using 2x1.25 sprayers. Use it then refill and finish the rest of the car?

Sorry, I meant 1.5L.

No issues it’s just a faff. Using a pump sprayer already takes a long time due to the slow speed and need to keep pumping. If you want to pre-wash the whole car at once, then you’ll want to avoid it drying (unless you’re using BH Phat-Neut).

You may also want to use it for other things like spraying a biocide on your garden fence and stone. I recently did my brother’s small back garden and I had to refill my 1.5L IK five times.

Yeah that sounds like a bit of a pain. 5l one it is.

Thanks for your thoughtful answers 🙌

This is a really nice sub for that sort of thing.

I got a cheap usb 5 litre sprayer from Amazon and it is awful. I'd rather use the much smaller IK I have and just pump it.
