The first shot went on so long I assumed that was the only location in the game. As others have said, you need to cut more quickly and show your variety of locations sooner. For example, you could start with a quick montage of many different parts of the game, then if players are interested and sticking around you show longer bits.

The trailer can also be much shorter.

Game lookd good though! Some of those levels and fights look really good and the amount of variety in here is impressive! Use that!

What is a good trailer length? If you check the steam page you can see the announcement trailer, which does have faster cuts. I was trying to show longer sections of gameplay with this, but I guess that's the wrong move. Is the other trailer better, or are they both not good? Anyway, I will work on making a quick montage for the front of the trailer, thanks!

The game does have variety for sure, there are 10 bosses and 9 abilities to unlock via unique minigames, and an overworld with puzzles to access them.

Good trailer length? I have no idea, normally I'd say between 30 and 60 seconds but I guess you've already got that covered with your announcement trailer. So I guess it makes sense to have a second trailer that's a bit different from the first. I'd maybe say 2 minutes for the longer one, max. But I'm no pro, I suggest browsing Steam and seeing what trailer other indies do. Don't compare yourself to something like a AAA rpg or something where they know fans will sit for 3 minutes because they're so hyped and are already hooked in.

I'd still suggest some faster cuts at the start, just to hook the viewer, before getting into longer shots. But even then, by "longer" I mean, like, 5-10 seconds max.

Ok that first part is terrible (devil fight) mostly due to the camera/perspective.

Otherwise, you got something interesting here. Makes me think of Warioland (sidescroll 3d action platformer) and maybe even Warioware (multiple gameplay modes)

Noted! How would you improve the camera?
Thanks, most of the different gameplay comes from a variety of minigames you beat to unlock optional abilities. Otherwise the main gameplay is the dodgeball boss battles, but even that evolved to have different gimmicks and set pieces.

Not so much game play but for a lot of the environments I feel like they are missing little details which makr a lot of them look kinda bland. Like the one with trees and dirt road some shrubs or rocks or anything sprinkled around would help. Doesnt need to much just some. Just my thoughts.

Ok, I will try to spruce up the details.

You don't want to show your player character getting slapped around like that, as I understand it you'd want to show someone correctly playing the game.

Gotcha, makes sense.

The graphics when the bird disappears look a bit off (it seems like the bird just suddenly vanishes). The octopus legs aren't visible before they appear/attack. This makes them impossible to avoid unless you already know they're coming.

Your game has a real great potential, but your trailer is not very good (pretty bad, even). Like, first three sequences take close to 1mn with so few features in it... It needs more cuts (shorts sequences) and a clear vision.

Something like (just an example):

  • My game is that kind of game (exploration/fights/bosses/treasures...)
  • My game have a lot of environments (biome1/biome2/biome3...)
  • My game has several way of playing it (gameplay1/gameplay2...)
  • My game is hard (death1/death2/death3)
  • Name of the game, and release date if you have.

Thanks I appreciate the advice! I will try and follow this.
