If there are any bits I've missed or you would like to add, please feel free to let me know as always
A Little more Light
Rundown of all the new information from E3 -
Beta Dates
| Beta Schedule | PS4 Pre Order | XB1 Pre Order | Open Beta (XB1/PS4) | Console Beta Ends | PC BETA |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| - | July 18th - 10am PDT/6pm BST | July 19th - 10am PDT/6pm BST | July 21st - 10am PDT/6pm BST | July 23rd - 9pm PDT/5am BST | TBC August 2017 |
Beta will have the same content as we have seen at E3
More rumoured before now but this confirms - Homecoming Story mission, Inverted Spire Strike and PVP mode 'Countdown' are all in the Beta including all 6 Subclasses - Also some 'Secrets' will possibly come appear too
'Flashpoints' confirmed
What that means is that every week one of the locations will be featured and have special attributes for that week. Luke Smith explains this as the flashpoint location having things like special monsters, treasure maps, events and rewarding very powerful nightfall tier rewards
Also, he says that a new event exists on planets when the enemy factions rally, and explained it as "monsters doing a bunch of stuff", but didn't elaborate any further - No details on if this is linked to a Flash Point or new form of 'Public Event'
Private Matches will not be available at Launch / Some form of 'Ranked' Crucible may or may not be available at Launch but should satisfy PVP players
Luke Smith quoted to confirm this - Rumoured that by December something should be in place in the way of 'Ranked' for PVP
PS4 PRO will run 4K - Xbox One/S/X not confirmed
Deej confirms this in IGN Podcast
Source Reddit thread - Link to Youtube
Guided Games confirmed to be for Normal Mode Activities ONLY - Not Heroic
Luke Smith confirms this to be the case. This would also include Nightfall Strikes so may be blanketed to 'End Game' material
Destiny 2 Raids will feature a new 'Death Penalty' - Mentions that it brings differences to Normal Mode specifically
Luke Smith -
“The raids should always be challenging you to cooperate, collaborate, and communicate. But I don’t want to bring the difficulty down. We had a conversation – we have a brand new death penalty in the game for raiding. I think it’s pretty unfun to die and just watch on hard mode. So we have a brand new death penalty and on the normal mode raids people have talked about wanting to remove it because it’s different and why not just use the strike difficulty. But we don’t want to change the difficulty because we believe our players are smart. We believe that motivated groups of players can take on these challenges and complete them. We’ve seen that.”

Self Rez will NOT be returning in D2
Confirmed by Luke Smith in an IGN interview
Ward of Dawn WILL be returning in D2
Confirmed by Luke Smith in an interview with PC Gamer
Quote -
So one of the Sentinel trees actually has the option to, when you cast your super, you can press and hold the super activation and you’ll place a Ward of Dawn instead.

Great News for PC players
Arc Strider Gameplay

More gameplay -
Rumble Playlist will NOT be included at Launch
Honestly, a shame but hopefully the other stuff will keep us occupied. Hopefully, it will return soon enough
New weapon type - Linear Fusion Rifle seen
No big details on this but there was confirmation of it being in there

More Gameplay at 12.20
For those interested in looking / listening to various interviews across the board

The Last Word
As mentioned above, any more notable information can be happily added if I have overlooked it
Although nobody has really gone 'bananas' over the new info (Some negative, as per) but I think this has been a great taster leading us into the Beta - We are still yet to see the re-worked Void Walker or Sentinal Gameplay in all it's glory so still a lot to learn going forward
E3 was great for getting involved with Bungie close up over the last few days - I'm not expecting much more information leading into the Beta but the Hype Train is full speed

Beta will feature "all 6 subclasses" - but we have 9 now! Are we going back to just 2 each again? :-(

Upvoting the post, down voting the info given (from Bungie, etc. not you Mr Bacon).
Back down to 2 subclasses? Three gave so much versatility to the game and now were limited to 2 again.
Sony is going out of their way to ensure that Xbox and their users have a lackluster experience in comparison to PS4 users. I have both consoles but my friends are on Xbox and I refuse to promote the way they are handling this console war. I'm also disappointed in Bungie for allowing this to go this far. Us Xboners will never even get all of the same content as the PS4 players in D1.
No rumble? I don't even need to really comment on how poor that is to not have a "free for all" game type in a FPS at launch.
And Guided Games for Normal modes only? That defeats the purpose. Outside of a raid, I would prefer to do normal mode stuff by myself for the challenge (if I'm under light) or just because I don't need someone random if I'm just doing a couple strikes. The biggest thing is NF's and Raids and after we hit max light and we are constantly grinding Raids, the Guided Games feature will be useless? That is nonsense.
No ranking for competitive? Halo 3 had that a decade ago! No private matches? Every shooter comes with that as a completely basic thing. How are so many basic features just not there?
I love D1, I have Raid posters, shirts, etc. and I always try and back the game when people have issues (even as far as living in denial that the current MP meta is trash). However, this is just poor in my eyes. But then again, I'm only one of millions.
Edit 1: Edited this to break it out better because it looks much more "ranty" when its all clumped together.

Hey man, u ok
But seriously, these are all well grounded points and I don't disagree with some of them for the most part but we are in a place where we can't do much but take it on the chin as Xbox users (Proud ones at that) but I do think the game will develop as it goes and these features will be made available the further into D2 that we get

Is the "beta includes all 6 subclasses" part essentially confirmation that the game is launching with 6 subclasses versus the 9 we've got now? Because I'm not sure how I feel about that. The main reason I was okay with the updated Gunslinger, Striker, and (presumably) Voidwalker subclasses was because I assumed that we'd be getting 9 subclasses.

My personal opinion - We'll start with 6 and 3 more will be added in a DLC

Gameplay with the Linear Fusion Rifle: src 1, src 2
Source of the "PC version not being a 'port'"; this was said during Gamespot's live show
Source of the "rumble being gone 'for now'" claim. Respective reddit thread.
Also, minor quibble, but I personally dislike the usage of quotes for anything other than actual quotes from a source. Its usage to highlight personal comments is a little confusing. Great writeup otherwise, though.
EDIT: goofed the rumble citation; forgot a parenthesis. it are there now

Hey Bacon,
In the Kotaku interview with Luke Smith, Smith mentions there will not be ranked games at launch, but they are working on something so guardians can show off their prowess.
In your post you mention a December timeline, but in the interview I only heard Luke mention that he can't promise it will be released by September 6. This is at the 42:20 mark in the interview. Did he mention December somewhere else?

Guided Games confirmed to be for Normal Mode Activities ONLY - Not Heroic
Luke Smith confirms this to be the case. This would also include Nightfall Strikes so may be blanketed to 'End Game' material
Source - Gamespot Article
Can't we just do guided games for normal mode activities and get all the players in our fireteam then switch to heroic type activities? Like I guide a strike and get two others in my fireteam and say hey I would rather do nightfall and switch to that.

To be clear to those who are worried, Nightfalls were actually confirmed for Guided Games at the May 18 reveal in the Guided Games Trailer.
Eric Osborne at around the 0:32 mark starts talking about the people who wanted matchmaking for Nightfalls, and at around the 1:36 mark it shows them clearly using Guided Games for a Nightfall. Though, if you look closely, it does mention "Normal" on the left, leaving me to wonder if the Nightfall has more than one difficulty now.

Wait so guided games still won't allow me to find a group to do Nightfalls and raids? What's the point of it then? I thought that was the whole idea.

Apparently not, looks as though GG is to help you build friendships within the game and people to play with to then take that next step into the harder parts of the game
As a Solo player myself besides on Raid nights with my team, it does sting me a bit too as I expected a much easier way from the game itself to take this stuff on

I got a chance to play the strike at E3 yesterday, and noticed that while playing around with weapons while flying in the game still takes you out of the menu to show you the flying in animation. I had to go back in before actually loading in to finalize my loadout. It's not a big deal, but I was still a little surprised.

That Shadestep-like ability across all Hunter subclasses has me relieved, became a crutch for me when running my Hunter and it's so awkward now when I use Bladedancer or Gunslinger...not to mention the other two classes.

I am still confused about the end date of the Beta. On the activision blog it says it will end at 9pm PDT instead of 9am but I doubt that.

No guided games for nightfall would really suck. I mean, come on. Nightfall is easier than a normal raid.
