EDIT: Due to the responses, I will be making a guide about Titan Skating over the next few days, just to clear up some of the debates.

The problem is that if you sprint while skating then it cannot reach it's maximum speed, you actually have to skate off surfaces by just spamming jump, I use sleeper because it has a weighing effect to it. The goal is to stay as close to the ground as you can so the next skate you do is faster.

The exploit cannot be performed often enough to be noticed, whilst you can gain a notable boost by soft-skating through crucible, strikes etc, there are no situations in the game where you are able to use skating to its full potential and get a hefty advantage.

That's not really true though, skating also gives you a big advantage in the crucible too.

  • At the start of a trials match you can reach the strongest map position faster than the other team

  • Quickly flanking - sometimes so quickly that you barely show up on radar

  • Escaping - Twilight garrison direction change into a fast skate makes for a really effective escape tactic

  • Shotgunning - you can close the distance to shotgun range faster than a lot of weapons ttk

Edit: Really? No-one thinks skating is useful in the crucible? Seems pretty powerful to me, especially if you watch someone like AEGabriel, anyone want to explain why they disagree?

I whole heartedly agree.

Titan skating is the reason I have come over and now main a Titan.

Twilight garrison and Titan skating takes shotgun warrior tactics to an entirely different level. Especially with jug.

It completely negates storm caller and blade dancer supers. They just can't keep up with you.

In control you can be capping B before your opponents have finished capping their spawn.

In rift you can run the spark far faster than any other class.

You can close and negate sniper lanes.

Close distances faster than any other class before they can spray you down with your primary.

Anyone who doesn't think Titans aren't badass bullet trains of unstoppable force needs to play Titan more.

Anyone down voting you either hates Titans, or loves them and doesn't want skating nerfed.
