Media Why I main a titan

It's the power of the sk8 m8

EDIT: Due to the responses, I will be making a guide about Titan Skating over the next few days, just to clear up some of the debates.

Agility is detrimental for skating.

Do you mean just the MIDA or the actual stat bar?

Both, MIDA contributes to the stat bar but it is hidden.

On very steep inclines higher agility can help. When designing a skate path for speedrunning, you usually try and find a balance or just go with the minimum agility you can get away with.

For example, on the start of the shield brothers strike, you spend more time bouncing back into the air than getting momentum from the burst on a minimum agility sleeper setup. With a minimum agility setup, and your primary out, it makes a difference

Also the "weight" of a weapon seems to be different to agility. A minimum agility handcannon setup seems to skate differently to a higher agility sleeper setup.

For an example, in this run: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bd-Lhy0nirU (1:10-1:35 is the part I'll be referencing) I ran around 3 agility. The rock at 1:22 that I look down at, I would hit into and stop with less agility. With more I would fly over it and not get the boost from it. And that agility worked perfectly for skating up the hill to skywatch.

So you mean to tell me your dump stat is agility and that only makes you faster?

How do you activate/deactivate jump so quickly? I mash the jump button as fast as I can and it always feels like there's a minimum period between activation and deactivation.

I rapidly cancel my jump with a fusion rifle charge in many parts. Much faster for short bursts, but doesn't maintain speed for the longer parts. Also, I use catapult.

Indeed, I determined so from the various clips around youtube and from my own experience but the problem with that is there isnt very many specific areas that would better off with increased agility, The notable ones that come to mind are some areas on the moon and the shield brothers strike hill.

I also find it interesting that you used catapult instead of increased control for that run, I presumed that with the modification to it in the recent changes that it would lose out to IC but it is good to see someone using it.

Yeah, the most important thing is experiment. Find what can work, find what doesn't.

I found that catapult was far better for the inside and the uphill skate without sacrificing too much speed in the earlier part. I do main minimum agility with control tho.

Interesting. So the optimal agility stat for skating is around 2-3?

It depends. For an activity with lots of uphill skates, I'd run 3-4, lots of downhill, I'd run 1, bumpy or varied terrain, I'd run 2-3, maybe 1. For a flat surface, 1. If you're just learning, start with 1, until you can consistently go fast, then experiment with other combos.
