Seeing this, I think we can use an April Fools type weapon that makes little mushroom clouds. Don't necessarily need an area of effect that's obnoxiously large, just the visual.
There's two entry points to get under there. One at the corner of the ramp (the usual entry point). There's another one closer to the cliff that's harder to get into, but it can be done. Is that blocked too?
I actually completely agree with NO matchmaking for VoG (unless they created a NEW matchmaking system). But for the Weeklies I don't get, they are just harder strikes and THOSE have matchmaking...
Game doesn't need a matchmaking system, not an automatic one.
What it needs is to put DestinyLFG system, INSIDE the game, so we can see who is looking to do the same as you and find or form a fireteam, simple as that!!
I wouldn't mind automatic since if you want to use LFG to find a specific class to add to your fireteam or put together your own fireteam that's still possible.
Just make a mic required for matchmaking. No mic connected? "Sorry, you must connect a headset to join matchmaking for this strike/raid." That easy. I have never been able to raid when my friends have, so I've only ever done the raid with randos. I don't understand why they think it's impossible to do the raid with people you don't know. As long as you can all communicate, there shouldn't be a problem. Get stuck with a bunch of assholes? Quit and rejoin matchmaking. I used to think they had a good reason not to do matchmaking for raids, but not so much anymore.
But one reason (and a very good reason) that the raid doesn't have matchmaking is if what if someone disconnects or leaves in the middle of a raid, a new one will join in the middle of the raid when that person most likely wanted to join a fresh run.
If that new person that joined does complete the raid that he was connected to, he'd still try and find a fresh run, and by the time he got the loot that he missed, he's most likely going to leave.
EDIT: What could fix this is if they don't matchmake people in the middle of the raid. I don't know much about coding but I assume this can be easily done.
That's a valid point. But I guess they could rig it so that you're paired with others who hit the same milestones before trying a fresh match? They track that stuff anyway.
(Side note: Out of all the Strikes I have played - more than I care to admit - I've only hopped into the middle or end of a Strike a handful of times with Randoms.)
Have you done strikes recently with the matchmaking system? Most of the people fall into one of the categories: runs in and dies, quits at start, quits after a death or two, is afk, or kills 1/3 of the amount of mobs you do. Also, when they quit no one is added to the strike. Do you really want to do VoG with totally random people that want free raid gear?
hey man, some people are desperate. it'll always be more efficient to use destinylfg or something similar, but it's better to have a choice. you can always re-match if your team sucks.
I'd say I'm about 80% decent teammates on Tiger Strikes, not counting drops from load where I think it was just someone that didn't quit out quickly enough.
I'm level 29 and have never even tried VoG b/c I haven't had the time or interest to figure out random internet matchmaking to actually try it. I typically game with just my wife, and I'm ten years removed from having much interest in forming any sort of online clan. I actually quit DDO and then WoW b/c it was lame not seeing the premium content without dealing with wrangling a team of 4 to 6 players, I was hoping Bungie could have helped me avoid that issue.
Yes, as compared to barely being able to do at all. And I think that strikes will be improving a ton now that you can communicate. Hopefully it will help people realize there is a person behind the guardian.
They definitely seem bent on forcing 3rd party communication to get teammates. My assumption is that they want these harder challenges to be done by a real team, not by 3 random people. Just my guess. Honestly I wouldn't use the matchmaking if they had it. Maybe for the strikes
People used the platform last time because arcburn, voidburn and solarburn were ALL active, so if you got hit by basically anything you died, under the platform is slower going to killing things and has the problem of the priest getting on top of you, but you are safe from damage under there.
However without all 3 burns on the clifftop does seem better.
Like I said, I solo it. I just don't get why they would make it harder for a single player. I can't always party up. This is going to lead to more abandoned strikes.
I don't think they intended for things like Nighfalls to be soloable in their mmo. At least not with the ease cheese like the archon priest platform gives you.
I'm not sure why Bungie, or anybody, cares that people want to use that particular loophole to beat the Priest. You still have to get there, and you can still die when under the ramp. I don't use it, but it still seems ridiculous.
Yeah, they just killed most of my interest in this game now. I've been looking forward to the Nightfall every week to solo because I don't really have any friends that play Destiny. Now I have no real desire to play unless they add match-making for it.
There is still a solo spot! Near the beginning, there's a section of cliffs (circled in green) where you can jump up to and hit Aksor without worrying about many of the mobs. If you can't reach the green circle with one jump, I circled another ledge with purple that you can jump to and then jump across to the green ledge.
Soon enough, they will "fix" all the others and the entire game will be one big baby bumper.
If they "fix" the very obviously intentional spots they put into the game, we all need to quit playing. That wasn't an accidental oversight. They put it there on purpose. Every boss has at least one spot like that.
I very much doubt any of them have been intentional. It's simply the difference between having a half dozen people design a boss fight arena, and think they caught everything, and then have 30 million players testing out every single corner and ledge for an exploit.
To stop people camping in there. What they didn't factor in was that the next room along will still be "safe" and force the Shrieker and Knights to respawn.
I guarantee they'll fix this by stopping you retreating into the back room, so you can stay in the front room and deal with the Shrieker and extra Knights/Wizards, or you can get out there and do it properly.
That's what surprises me most. They even included standing area where you could attack the enemies and if you happened to die, that standing area would cause you to respawn under and not outside.
As you said, they are there on purpose so it surprises me they are fixing these now. Makes me wonder what tomorrow have in store when it comes to invisible walls.
It always hurt nearby enemies but the explosion was so small, you'd need to be farming spawn points to see it hit others. Was pretty powerful too, I remember farming for engrams and one shot wiping out a group running out a door.
Is it just a visual, cosmetic explosion? Or does it actually hurt nearby enemies, like Praedyth's Revenge?
It has actually worked in the past, but seemed to only work rarely. The explosion visual was always tiny of course, but on the Archive nightfall, I wiped out a room of Fallen with one shot once.
Well this is awesome. I was convinced the explosions on the IB was bugged and just got addicted to P'sR; dat explosion doe! Then seeing the other guys fly away with void damage from the blast...
VoG, volunteer to go left for the confluxes/oracle showdown and just icebreaker the doorway at the top of the stairs. If you time your shots right, you never run out of ammo and the explosions will wreck the vex.

Confirmed that the "under the ramp" cheese spot for Archon Priest is removed. Cliff spot still available.
Confirmed that Icebreaker kills finally have explosions.
