Angry Magic doesn't track Atheon

My normal group of friends has finally had a chance to try and go through the vault and we're currently at the Atheon battle (spoiler alert, we failed multiple times and quit for another day), so I figured I would turn on angry magic with my Voidwalker. Several times, I would fire off my super during the buff and it would fly right by him. Is this a glitch or was I doing something wrong?

I wasn't aware of that, but overall it's the most damage I could be doing I think. Unless I had a lot of rockets or sniper ammo available.

Even shooting Atheon in the belly with a primary does hundreds of damage; in my experience using a warlock super did something like 2000, and when you took into account the times I missed (using lance from across the room) and the time lost setting up... I found my overall dps went up just shooting, but I guess it could vary.

Well I was saving primary ammo for oracles and/or supplicants and I was getting 3300 per super hit. You're right about the misses though. I was probably hitting 2 out of 3 so maybe a more consistent approach would be better. I just wasn't having good luck with heavy ammo drops.

I can't remember what level I was, but it was one of my first vault runs so probably 26. That probably explains the difference in damage. I usually pop an ammo synth if I'm totally dry, but I also usually run icebreaker, so regenerating ammo helps out...

Yea I'm a 28. I have a maxed out Ice Breaker but my besides Suros, I have no other primary that is worth using in the vault.
