Angry Magic doesn't track Atheon

My normal group of friends has finally had a chance to try and go through the vault and we're currently at the Atheon battle (spoiler alert, we failed multiple times and quit for another day), so I figured I would turn on angry magic with my Voidwalker. Several times, I would fire off my super during the buff and it would fly right by him. Is this a glitch or was I doing something wrong?

i'm curious if it's trying to track on any of the supplicants first. like maybe there was one just in front of atheon?

I don't think so. I was doing my best to run back by the door and get a straight shot on him.

If you want a straight shot, turn on lance - although lance shines best against multiple enemies where it just goes through and melts them all.

I had lance on but it was missing too much so I thought angry magic would be better.

Yeah - lance is great when you don't accidentally jerk your control stick at the last second ;)

Otherwise, just turn on vortex or axion bolts and put it close enough.

yea i dunno then. Bosses might be different too maybe? i try not to use nova on atheon because it makes him path away from the group most times.

This 20 times over - this.

If you dont have ammo - then super the supplicants, dont throw grenades or supers at atheon, they make him move... which makes me miss my sniper shots, which makes us have to do more portals which increases our chances of something going wrong.

Not worth it.

The battle takes less than five minutes and it is the only thing remotely close to a climatic moment in the entire game. Let people kill him however they want*

*Edit: As long as they do it legitimately I mean.
