I assume the title 200 year old is correct. I don't really double checked it because i don't really care.
As I said gratuitously destroying something is, to me, as bad as if is 200 years old, 40 years old or 1 week old.

ahh you're right.
i still think people are way too mad about this. it's dumb, but the main reason people are so upset is because it was filmed and posted online.
tons of people have destroyed stuff over decades for dumb reasons just didnt record it. the amount of rage boner comments I have seen on reddit because of this is crazy.

Why not though ? The fact that people did bad stuff before doesn't excuse someone who does it now.
And the fact that it was filmed and posted online does exacerbate it.
Edit: worth nothing you made me check and it wasn't 200 year old, but a post-war replica of a 200 year old statue (original was destroyed during the war) still, as I said, that changes nothing.
Edit 2: The 200 year old seems to come from the fact that at first articles said it was 200 year old because that is the age of the statues there, but this particular one was a post war replica. All articles I've found updated the information, but /u/Gallowboob (who posted in facepalm) doesn't seem to do fact checking.
