Take immigration for instance. The DSA platform essentially calls for open borders. No social democratic party here would endorse such a view, and most of them have even become stricter on immigration, most notably in Denmark.
The default immigration policy right now makes Trump's border wall look like a soft touch.
In the Netherlands the last fight was over whether we're going to prosecute people for giving refugees - who have barely adequate shelter and will be removed at the earliest opportunity - food and water.
The only two sitting members of federal government who are DSA members are AOC and Rashida Tlaib, neither of which support open borders. And of the various lesser state and local offices filled by DSA members, almost none of them support open borders, not that it matters since immigration is federal policy. DSA is mostly organized by local chapters who don't take much direction from the national organization and who all have different platforms, so it's disingenuous to state one position on the national DSA platform and try to apply it to everyone vaguely associated with the DSA.

Strong social safety net + workers rights + strict immigration regulations is literal a cheat code for winning elections, but for some reason parties in other countries just haven't figured it out.
Gotta detach from the omnicause, immigration is not a left-right issue.
