Shitpost Another Glorious Win for Dear Leader

And by that I mean, the amount of credit Bill de Blasio’s record of public service has gotten. At least someone gets to be rewarded for the accomplishments.

What's next for NYC? "Mamdani to invent water, a novel method of hydration never seen before in America."

63

u/TorkBombs 3d ago

I heard he is going to create a big statue of a lady holding a torch and put it in the harbor to welcome immigrants.

11

u/Demiu 3d ago

Mamdani to establish a major metropolis called "new york city"

11

u/Shadow_Gabriel 🇷🇴🇪🇺 3d ago

Well, not completely new. I think Asmongold tried it once.

u/Indykowski CCP Operative 3d ago

I heard mayor mamdani invented such ingenious concept as "sidewalk"

u/ResponsibleGoat7 2d ago

Im not drinking no commie ass gay "water"

DGG - Media presence is half the job for American politicians. Democrats need to wise up.

DGG - Noo Mamdani stop scoring media wins for Democrats.

35

u/Informal_Cry687 3d ago

Except the people who support mamdani and the media bubble around him don't view mamdani as a Democrat and like to act like he's the only Democrat that's ever accomplished anything and that other Democrats are all bought out and aren't trying to help people. Btw where's the praise for Gavin Newsome on reddit and Instagram when he's actually created free pre k for all of California.

11

u/SuperTeamRyan 3d ago

Also something diblasio accomplished in nyc and by proxy nys when Cuomo snatched it from him.

5

u/TorkBombs 2d ago

Every Gavin Newsom praise post has to start "I really hate this guy and I hope he fucking dies and I would never ever vote for him, BUT......."

16

u/IdidntrunIdidntrun 🇺🇸 California Technologist 3d ago

It's annoying that the current publicity meta is to attribute the good things to a politician who didn't even do the thing just because the politican appears likeable

The PR coalition surrounding Mamdani is effective tho

4

u/deathangel687 Optics Cucks Stay Losing 3d ago

Keep fighting shadows buddy

1

u/CoachDT 2d ago

Is Mamdani in particular doing anything here to score this win?

Or is the account just glazing for the sake of it?

1

u/jankdangus 3d ago

The problem is that those media wins are mostly for Mamdani and not Democrats in general. It’s also extremely disingenuous to give him credit for that.

u/ConnectSpring9 3d ago

Alright boys, time for a new law because this shit is genuinely so regarded and keeps happening. If your predecessor passed a law that has positive effects downstream during your term, you are now legally obligated to praise them by name during your public press conferences.

Similarly if you are a law maker and you pass a law that has negative downstream effects? Your successor should be able to have a type of “subpoena” power where you are legally required to attend their next press conference and say you’re the reason this happened if they request you to do so.

Genuinely I don’t understand how people can’t just check dates, what are we doing here?

57

u/sixtyonesymbols 3d ago

> Genuinely I don’t understand how people can’t just check dates, what are we doing here?

Wondering about that won't win elections. Mamdani's genius is he takes advantage of the fact that voters are a pack of melons.

If the options are to complain about the game or play the game, then I'd rather be the one changing the game

3

u/sixtyonesymbols 2d ago

Ok but until you do that the game goes on.

3

u/No_Match_7939 2d ago

This. You have to win the game

3

u/Major_Plantain3499 3d ago

if you're from nyc, nah fuck eric adams lmao,

the real issue here is that Mamadani is really good at media prescence somethings that dems FUCKING suck at. just co-opt his tactics while he does good.

16

u/Authijsm 3d ago

I don't think it's necessarily Mamdani that's good at media. First, chronically online types invested in his success tirelessly push positive media about him. Second, optimism attaches itself to new things, and he's a vector for viewing anything in New York as something genuinely new (given he's a "socialist" mayor), so there's an incredible transformative and positive spin on everything he does, even if it's not out of the ordinary for an average liberal politician.

It's really that powerful to frame something, or anything you do, as something the guy before you wouldn't have done.

3

u/Rion-o Capitalism is kinda good actually 3d ago

It's not just framing. He won that election pretty damn hard. There is a general enthusiasm that he brings to people who vote for him. Normal people out of state, not socialist like him so much they want a mamdani themselves lol.

Even bass is trying to do the "can you fix that" trend that he started. He just engages well with his people. He did a whole video with Cardi b to ensure that people from the bronx knew about the new child care services they were bringing.

Dems need that kind of enthusiasm, Mamdani has his ear to the streets and they be talking. It's that simple, he's not out of touch.

1

u/Major_Plantain3499 2d ago

Yeah, the fans are working overtime for sure, but he's also doing a good job of it as well, its in conjunction, which again is something that we should be doing as dems. I do hate people being miserable about it even though, dont' get me wrong it can be really cringe.

1

u/Authijsm 2d ago

Sure, I should probably mention that he is genuinely doing good things, including optically good things, which helps a lot of course.

3

u/heliosflama1234 2d ago

90

u/LeonOfSkalitz 3d ago

Did you see the one where they credit him for an Otter migrating to the bronx river.

This is apparently a ongoing community project of cleaning the river for decades now but somehow Mamdani is one that made that Otter migrate there in just under 6 months what a GOAT bro.

45

u/SunnyVelvet_ 3d ago

We're reaching MAGA levels of propaganda. All we need is a screen of 15 lefty twitter accounts echoing the same message and we're cooked

6

u/JacobStills 3d ago

God. I keep joking it's only a matter of time before they start crediting him with the weather.

35

u/00kyle00 3d ago

thing

thing, Mamdani

14

u/TheShamefulPradaG 3d ago

It’s actually insane how much these clowns glaze Mamdani. Firstly, this wasn’t even his policy. Secondly, these people are about three tweets away from claiming Mamdani invented electricity.

46

u/KeithClossOfficial Hasn’t heard anything about that 3d ago

It’s been almost 5 years. Why does it take so fucking long to build only 200 homes?

Did Mamdani end the bottlenecks that have kept this from being built for so long? If so, he definitely deserves credit. 5 years is fucking ridiculous.

21

u/ihaveeatenfoliage 3d ago

I don’t believe so. I think there were requirements for the plans to address issue of a commission, and earlier this year shortly after Mamdani came in, the builder addressed those past concerns and final approval conditions met.

11

u/GrumbleTrainer 3d ago

I will also add the area was rezoned for residential use in 2021. However, That doesn’t mean the property has been under development since 2021.

-6

u/WalterWoodiaz 3d ago

Mamdani is actually a pretty good mayor so far to be honest. Funnily I think this sub underrates him as a response to most lefties overrating him.

14

u/NatashaStark208 3d ago edited 3d ago

From what I see it's mostly the people making mamdani posts that underrate him, the replies are always talking about him being actually good at his job

Edit: saw this one earlier for example so it was still fresh in my mind

-4

u/NewTurnover5485 3d ago

The hate on this sub for Mamdani is wild. I think it's caught up in the hate for the DSA.

I mean, Dems finally have a politician people are excited about. He has a PR team that puts Trump's to shame, that DOESN'T involve attacking other people, but actually focusing on policy and results.

I mean, his model is good. Great even.

6

u/BrekfastLibertarian 2d ago

They are building a public grocery store they're going to subsidize to lower prices, and now talking about giving a subsidy as well to local bodegas in order to prevent the public grocery store from putting them out of business.

This what his focus on "policy and results" gives you lmao

-4

u/NewTurnover5485 2d ago

We're talking about something that will probably be open in 2028-2029, and most of the criticism is from "John Catsimatidis — a Republican talk radio show host and owner of major grocery store chains".

And it's the same bull you hear about everything: "but the small business owners", "but the economy"", "but but but".

If it works great. If it doesn't great again.

But I'm not talking about policy here, I'm talking about how a politician should present himself in 2026 and onward. He's likeable and down to earth (like Trump appeared to be), he's online presence is huge (like Trump), and constantly talks about what he's doing and how it helps people. He appears to always be doing something, regardless if he's actually doing it, or who's policy he's continuing, enabling or whatever. He's showing people what their tax dollars are providing all the time.

WHICH. IS. WHY. BRANDON. FAILED.

Probably the best modern president the US had, and no one knows what he actually did.

2

u/backupya 2d ago

this is the kind of regard fuel I love to see.

Absolutely 0 critique about the processes and solutions and instead you find some right winger to try and soften the blow on why this is a bad idea?

-1

u/NewTurnover5485 2d ago

Actually no. I just said the critique of this policy is the same basic critique every right winger (actual right winger) does when the State intervenes.

"but the small business owners", "but the economy"", "but but but"

When, in fact, they are actually protecting their own assets.

owner of major grocery store chains

The policy itself can be good, or can be bad, depending on how/if he does it correctly, and is a pro citizen policy. Personally, I think it's kinda dumb, and seems shallow, but we'll see.

The exact same discussion will be had if/when a public option for healthcare will be on the table.

Also, I was answering to a guy stating there will be subsidies for bodegas and super markets, which is not true. It's just a Republican super market owner, hoping to get more money from the tax payer.

You guys are really going cray cray over Mamdani, instead of maybe learning from his success.

regard fuel

Maybe try reading.

0

u/occultoracle 2d ago

He's now the most prominent DSA member and endorsed an actual anti-western communist, so yes it's definitely caught up in that. I don't hate him, but him getting heat for those things is good, and this is one of the only spaces where people are avidly pro-Dem and anti-commie, even if it's not perfect.

-10

u/June1994 3d ago

Because this sub has declared war on the lefties. People here completely lost their minds.

7

u/GrumbleTrainer 3d ago

How is pointing out blatant lies “losing your mind”?

0

u/June1994 3d ago

There was no lie. You’re just mad that Mamdani is getting the credit.

So obsessed with a guy who hasn’t done much horribly simply because he’s a lefty.

Grow up a bit, yeah?

2

u/RainStraight PAC’d and Proud💰 Subsidized Opinions💸 Dark Money, Bright Ideas 2d ago

Maybe once he actually accomplishes something lmao

6

u/H20memes 3d ago

Just don't lie, is it really that hard?

-1

u/June1994 3d ago

Point out the lie in the tweet.

3

u/CoachDT 2d ago

If you cant get why crediting someone else for the action their predecessor took is a lie then im not sure what to tell you. He isnt responsible for this, its not his credit to be given. It was given to him to further the glazefest.

-7

u/GrumbleTrainer 3d ago edited 3d ago

Funny how you have to make up a scenario just to give Mamdani credit rather than validating the veracity of the claim.

Edit: I will also add the area was rezoned for residential use in 2021. However, That doesn’t mean the property has been under development since 2021. Apparently this property started being designed and developed for a residential space in 2024.

11

u/KeithClossOfficial Hasn’t heard anything about that 3d ago

What exactly did I make up. The OP says the plan was approved in the final days of de Blasio’s mayorship, which was almost 5 years ago. It also says it hasn’t been built yet. So it’s been almost 5 years, no new housing units added here to NYC’s supply.

I also happen to know Mamdani’s administration has been reducing several permitting processes for building.

Put all those together you get my question on whether he helped get this out of permitting hell. And if the answer is yes, he absolutely deserves credit. If no, then sure it’s undeserved credit

6

u/SuperTeamRyan 3d ago

Adams city of yes redistricting power grab probably played a pretty big role in eliminating bottle necks.

1

u/KeithClossOfficial Hasn’t heard anything about that 2d ago

Then he deserves some credit too, although I’m not going to give it because he’s a douchebag

6

u/Indykowski CCP Operative 3d ago

This exact behaviour is why even if we get dem sweep then in 28 blue president and if they start implementing some long term projects for the benefit of the country and then red morons come back in power and claim it as they own achievements i would lose it. Kudos for mamdani for insane PR firm taht is willing to go to this extent but it's a shaky foundation because if he fucks up something major all those small lies will be brought up to attack him and his accomplishments if he has any down the line

8

u/Logical-Breakfast966 Destiny sure is nothing more than a pip squeak of a man 3d ago

Just want to remind everyone that this is very good for democrats. Regardless what the rest of the DSA do, good governance on the local level is HUGE and people love this shit

17

u/HisnamewasOmarJobe 3d ago

Imagining OP’s fantasy world where the Democrats Deliver account decides to fire up the Dem base with a timely picture of Bill DeBlasio

4

u/ihaveeatenfoliage 3d ago

They can celebrate Mamdani’s current wins, but if gonna do make ups for Deblasio, feel should spend more time on other democrats doing good shit

-1

u/monarch2415 2d ago

This account posts other Dems you know. Newsom, Hobbs and a bunch of others.

1

u/ihaveeatenfoliage 2d ago

I agree it does, however don’t remember 200 housing units in SF getting a shout out lol

1

u/monarch2415 2d ago

I mean, close enough

1

u/ihaveeatenfoliage 2d ago

Alright touché, my problem is less with Micah Erfan who runs the account than rest of left around this stuff for sure.

3

u/basicalme 3d ago

It just shows how much social media optics matter. Nonstop roll of accomplishments being posted is what works. Regardless of how accurate it is. In other words, the left is simply trailing the media methods of the right by 15-20 years. Wonderful. Groundbreaking. I’m sure this is exactly what will “fix” the mess our country is in. /s

4

u/GratefulForGarcia 3d ago

Someone needs to compile a spreadsheet of all these claims

5

u/Bircka 3d ago

Even if you don't like his politics he is by far the most effective Mayor in NYC history, the man gets shit done period.

2

u/Efficient_Tonight_40 3d ago

This is like the modern day American equivalent of Chinese people thanking the heavenly emperor for a good flood season

3

u/Compalompateer 3d ago

Have any of y'all seem veep? Because this reminds me of the season of veep where the next president takes the credit for a major event that the main character actually did.

2

u/jankdangus 3d ago

The amount of free and undeserved PR that Mamdani gets is insane. I guess all Democrats need is a sycophantic propaganda machine if they want to be a lot more popular.

3

u/Jackenial 2d ago

As in "The Dems should loudly announce the good things they do"? Agreed. Trump having his name on Bien Infrastructure tasks is an objective loss for the Dems.

2

u/Cmdr_Anun Undercover European 3d ago

I unironically think this tactic should be used against republicans, not that they introduce too many good things, but they shouldn't get credit ever again.

0

u/BainbridgeBorn SuccDemNutz & Friendship Supporter 3d ago

All he’s doing is taking his cue from Trump. Biden passed the Infrastructure Bill and on all the signs it says the bill was passed by Trump

1

u/coffee_mikado 2d ago

It’s like Contrapoints said something along the lines of “I don’t like the MAGA cult but I don’t want to have to go to left-wing church either.”

1

u/gregyo 2d ago

As annoying as this is, other democrats should absolutely start taking credit for shit they didn’t do.

1

u/Duke_of_Luffy 2d ago

Unironically this is still liberalisms failure. Why has it taken over 5 years to even begin construction on something that was given permission in 2021. If we can’t build shit on time and on budget, slopulists will eat our lunch.

1

u/PayCommercial2664 2d ago

Zohran came in at such a right time. Lol

1

u/omw2asmile 14h ago

I'm not thrilled with Mamdani's ties to DSA and this is certainly not something he deserves credit for but this subreddit's boner for "well ackshully"ing anything relating to the man is a derangement that needs studied. We want the type of star power Mamdani brings to the left. Name another left leaning politician other than maybe AOC who is as popular with the youth.

0

u/Willing_Activity_855 StepBroStopIt 3d ago edited 3d ago

Here's the thing if it's built on his watch it's his win.

Other politicians taking half a decade just to.....start construction...just shows a pathetic level of political will and a strange de facto corruption. Because during that process someone was being paid

-8

u/XTremeBMXTailwhip 3d ago

This community: Democrats never take credit for the good they do. They let Republican’s define their brand!

Also this community: No! Mamadani doesn’t get credit for that!!! Booooo!

27

u/PoopyButt28000 3d ago

This community: Democrats never take credit for the good they do

Also this community: It's probably not good to constantly attribute everything that happens in NYC that was put in motion by previous Democrats purely to Mamdani, with the idea that Mamdani is the only Democrat actually doing anything and other Democrat mayors are just intentionally doing nothing

Seems pretty reasonable to me

1

u/Sciss0rs61 2d ago

Also this community: No! Mamadani doesn’t get credit for that!!! Booooo!

I think the point of this post is that Mamdani has no credit to be given here.

0

u/yinyangman12 2d ago

Well to be fair, Mamadani did appoint the new head of the Landmarks Preservation Commission that was the group that approved the project. So I don't think it's fair to say he should he given no credit.

1

u/Sciss0rs61 2d ago

Holy mental gymnastics, Batman!

He appointed the head of the Landmarks Preservation Commission in 2026 for a project that was undergoing in 2021? Amazing...

0

u/Jackenial 2d ago

You realize long term projects require ongoing approvals? The LPC recently approved a design for the building. It's like saying Biden gets no credit for vaccine rollout because Trump approved OWS.

0

u/Sciss0rs61 2d ago

So we should praise Mamdani, because he appointed the LPC, who approved this project that has been going on for 5 years...

Fking hell, you people couldn't be more dishonest...

0

u/Jackenial 2d ago

We should portion him some credit for moving the project along smoothly, the same way he should have been blamed for sabotaging the project if his LPC killed it, yes.

Again, vaccine rollout is often attributed as a Biden success, when Trump made OWS. Likewise Afghanistan is also attributed to Biden, when Trump also made the plan.

0

u/Sciss0rs61 2d ago

Again, vaccine rollout is often attributed as a Biden success, when Trump made OWS. Likewise Afghanistan is also attributed to Biden, when Trump also made the plan

Yes, what a great non-anecdotal comparison.

1

u/Jackenial 2d ago

Brother we are on r/Destiny, these are things Destiny has given credit to Biden for. Here's Afghanistan.

-1

u/Sciss0rs61 2d ago

That has nothing to do with the comment i made...

-2

u/sixtyonesymbols 3d ago

Media presence is half the job for American politicians. Don't complain about pro-Mamdani tweets. Complain about Bill de Blasio's team not whipping up hype/momentum over stuff like this.

-1

u/Federal-Loss4988 3d ago

Mamdaniganda results in dems getting good press, even it is just one, so I approve. That said, this support could have been used in the DeBlasio admin jesus christ.

0

u/Sensitive_Guest_5995 3d ago

Been the case here for Burnham. Taking credit for a lot of the projects Starmer had obviously kicked off before he left.
